I bought 1 game directly from steam.
Than stopped.
Was 1 small game, bought of a big discount. Took half an hour install and download
All while I felt really annoyed by the overll process and deprived of the feeling of beeing the owner of the product.

I (should) own quite lots of game on gamersgate BUT suddenly stopped when they become a reseller for steam keys, and I had to use steam to play games bought from them.
Strong regional prices.
I send a mail s****ing heavily on them and blasting them publicly on their facebook page.
Then stopped.

The only online service I still use is GOG, but it becoming more and more rare, due to two factors:
* it's going in a direction tha I don't like: steam-like
* I was here for old games, they just stopped coming
* Introduction of regional prices.
* Sales discount based on how many games I select. Really, of 20 games discounted, perhaps I like 2. Nonsense.
(Ok, were more than two reasons).

That's probably true sadly.Man children and gamers quite often overlap.Why just look at the weekly overreaction threads even at GOG that's one of the calmer forums of the internet every week;)

I prefer buying here after joining gog but I will use steam if necessary (Usually on a discount). And buying the retail copies of exclusives occasionally. The only forms of DRM don't like are old ones that are no longer used (Safedisc, SecuRom and GFWL and any unecassary always online DRM). To all those steam haters, would you rather have DRM or no game at all?

Well some of us don't have that choice; it's no DRM or no game. Of course that depends on the type of DRM like you said.

You do have a choice though, just one you refuse to accept for whatever reason unless you are banned from steam or something.

No I don't. I cannot play games and have to be online at the same time. Literally, I cannot do it. XD

I own 282 games on gog & 125 games on steam 26 of them are free cd keys i got from Humble Bundle. Has you can tell i always buy from GOG most of the time. But some games i like are on steam & i hate how some games are steam exclusive. i do backup the drm free steam games i have on my steam account & GOG ones too.
P.s. i think 1tb may not be enough next year. ;)

I haven't touched a single game that requires activation via Steam, Uplay, Origin or any of their ilk. I own exactly two games that have DRM: Bioshock 1 and Torchlight 2, the latter of which I got as a Christmas present.
It's a matter of principle to me.

Depends. Before knowing about GOG I used to play Steam games without having never installed Steam. ;)

Since I'm not interested in multiplayer, as long as I could play single-player campaigns it was all fine by me.

This wonderful gif explains brilliantly why DRM is stupid. Pirates can have all the fun (food) while the honest purchaser has to deal with the nuisances and obstacles of obeying a "law" which in fact is not protecting his rights as a customer.

that is only true for games that need a permanent online connection even for single player like diablo 3
and sim city 5

most games on steam only need activation ( this is becoming less and less prevalent ) or a connection to connect to the cloud and sync up save data
its both hel din the cloud and online
if you lost a connection thats pretty much all you lose

course i cant speak for origin or uplay
but i dont touch uplay
