mcleodone: If you played Zaxxon and Uridium on C64 you pretty sure played Zynaps also ;-)
I dont have any list but i may just copy yours and half of it would be ident.
(no C16 and Amiga only played at friends ->switched Ligas directly from C64 to PC)
No, I never had Zynaps, neither on the C64 nor on the Amiga.
To me that's like trying to list all the movies I've seen throughout the years.

The first problem would be to even remember all the movies (I'd probably get many movies mixed up with each other, and forgetting many), and then finding names for them.

I e.g. recall playing many games on the Atari VCS which I borrowed from a friend of mine, but I have no idea what the names of some of those games were. Nor do I feel arsed to try to find them from Mobygames.
A lot.
Over 9000 !!!
Not enough according to my "need to play" list ;-)

Easily 5 times as many as I've finished :P
Wouldn't it be funny if years ago some nerdy kid started playing a really hard RPG game or something and couldn't beat it so he just kept playing it and like 25 years later it's still the only game he's ever played? I know it sounds weird, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if there were a few out there with that story.
More than you'd think, but less than you'd hope.
how could one remember?
but I can give a rough estimate: probably some tens, lower than one hundred thou.
Too many. Not many games make me feel happy these days, since I am often looking at them objectively. Without the deception of nostalgia or fanaticism, I simply cannot overlook the flaws of any given game.
Including C64, GameBoy, SNES, N64, Dos, Win3.1, Win95, NintendoDS, Caanoo, OpenPandora, PSX, GBA, WinXP, Linux, browser games, etc...?

Seriously, counting those would be a lot of work.
Why would you do such a thing? Too much spare time and fed up with video games? ^^

toxicTom: Of course many here have a lot of games (me, about 1.200 in total, most still on disk), but we also have huge backlogs. On the other hand we also have played a lot of games that we don't have anymore - maybe they were borrowed from a friend or rented from a video story or sold with the old machine or from the "good old days of Arrrr".

So I started to make a list of all the games I can remember to have played through the years, starting with the Atari 2600 of my uncle and the PolyPlay in 1986. I had to browse Mobygames and a few other sources for the last 250 games or so - to get inspired or sometimes just to remember the titles.

My current count is 895, with the name of one game (from the C16/Plus4) still eluding me. How many have you played?
Far too many to count. I mean I literally have thousands of games as I am a collector. Recently been fleshing out my PS3/XB360 collections as they have all moved onto the new model. Got something in the region of 3-400 of those. Then marching back through time, to Spectrum snapshots (yes, quite are now no longer physical). And have played so many of them. I could probably get some stats from the 15 or so spreadsheets I have, but that wouldn't scratch the surface. I am currently going through and putting everything into a database as I have decided to jetison a lot of the collection, I mean there is no point keeping PC games which only contain steam client or have drm when I have them on the console. Big task though. As for my first, it was a console with a switch you could twist left and right and played pong, forget now what it was called, although it was so far back it was probably in Bakelite :o)

That happened once, I was that kid. I started Baldur's Gate probably in the late 90s or early 2000s, and I didn't finish it until 2013 or 2014.

Maybe it wasn't that much that it was hard, but I got bored and disoriented with the game so often, forgetting what I was supposed to do next etc. I also restarted it a few times from scratch as I felt there was something off with my character, as in "I wish I had made that kind of character instead, with those attributes...".

But i did it! Impossible Is Nothing!

Games I've completed, probably around 50. Games I've played (including demos, quick test to make sure the disc works on my PS2) something like 800.

Happened with Darklands in '95 or '96 can't remember that well anymore. Played only that game for about 6 months, then gave up. Now bought it here and am reliving my frustrations......
