It is an example for someone who created dozens of accounts. That's it. This is also the reason why I avoided the name who is behind these accounts in the first post. It is not surprising that it triggered several people here though. If you can find another bouquet by a different user then you can go ahead and post it here. Make sure to include the proofs for SultanOfSuave. Then I will replace the example.

The only thing which is not healthy here is the one person being so obsessed with this forum that they create multiple accounts for a place they dislike.

First, I respect anyone who takes the time to substantiate and provide evidence for claims, regardless of what I may think of those claims.

Second, if any member breaks forum rules and that bothers anyone, it seems to me the proper course of action would be to report such actions to gog staff. The only point to opening a thread on it would either be to warn the community about it (such as bad faith game key traders) or to open discussion on what people think of the behavior (good/bad?).

Third, overall this smells to me of twitter drama. I do not want social media hyperbole and outrage corrupting this (mature?) forum. I've no idea how many people here have alts, and generally I don't care. Having an alt, to me, is like a secondary criminal charge... something that's only attached if there's a primary charge. Cheating people AND having an alt is bad. Just having an alt on its own... meh?

I don't/didn't like gamezranker but the way I handled that was by just never posting with them. If they have alts then I may have talked with them unknowingly, but that can be true of anyone online. If anyone here is harming you (or others) via alts, then my suggestion is to take it up with staff, people who actually have the ability to investigate and authority to do something. Taking it to the court of public opinion is just asking for drama, of which I disapprove.

You complain about obsessions yet are obsessed with certain users for one reason or another. Do you honestly consider that healthy behavior? And no, I don't dislike these forums...just the way they're run and certain "special users".

The main reason for this thread is what I mentioned before. Look at the linked thread at the beginning. You can have multiple accounts according to GOG. You can't report this then. Then I described the problem with examples to understand it. How many accounts is one user allowed to have? It is getting silly to open this forum and then you see these throwaway accounts with their 'special' posts or certain users having their newest account of the week. Some of the throwaway accounts are targeting all giveaway threads to harvest keys. This leads to the second reason for this thread.

I've read what happened in the GOG Community Giveaway Tradition - Discussion and Poll thread. Someone with a fairly new account asked in a pushy way for keys in all giveaway threads, harvested them and then at some point it was noted what kind of user they actually were. It took the cake that someone with an alt defended this 'special' user and then removed whole parts of their posts. The whole thing pissed me off. How can someone defend these dishonest key harvesters? Instead of shredding that thread I decided to open this one here. As you can see in this thread it was right decision.

I agree with you here. You probably should consider one thing. Who is constantly bringing the outrage from X or whatever shithole to this forum? One of the mentioned alts linked to 4chan and then decided to remove these links before they got reported. Or you have these 'interesting' posts about Steam and Pirate Bay which I linked above.

IP bans are useless, no home user has had a static IP since @home ran the show.
On gamestores account bans should be pretty effective as you loose all your games.

Didn't know about the key harvesting, and I already said my main reasons for making the giveaway weren't that user but rather the overly strict rule set which made legit users not able to get anything and also incentivized and enabled people to scrape old internet posts to make others they dislike ineligible. Did I say stupid shit while riding high on emotions? Yes, so I removed it when I started thinking more clearly.

If you honestly think you're saving anything or anyone here and defending against any perceived ebil you see in me, lemme tell ya: you're not. You're just the latest person who has been on the net way too long and let paranoia and narcicism fuel your perceptions.


With almost every game found "elsewhere" online, one could easily recover their bought games if needed.

But why don't you just leave it up to GOG, and not play the unofficial policeman of GOG?
It is not a good look and certainly doesn't make you popular, so where is the benefit, especially as it is almost impossible for you to change anything?

I've not read all your posts, so I don't know how you naming and shaming folk helps other members?

If you discover someone evading a ban by using another account, by all means report it. But other than that, you should leave it up to GOG to manage other aspects like key harvesting etc ... there's nothing you can do anyway, other than report any suspicions to GOG.

And when it comes to giveaways from other members, it is up to them to research those wanting a free game from them. I certainly wouldn't be giving away a game to folk who did not already have a good collection of paid for games in their account.
