Steam may turn off their servers and tell gamers "sorry guys, we're closing the business; you lost all your games as you accepted with every game activation".

How it works on gog?

I know I am able to download games here and burn it on a DVD. They're DRM free. But are there any licence restrictions (which I didn't find on gog com) which give me some limitated time I can use it without breaking the law?

But seriously, no. You can install them as many times as you like and play them for as long as you like, that's DRM free for you :)

None. You download them and can play them forever, however it's for your personal use only, so you shouldn't install it on others' PCs - just your own. So no opening a game café, haha! Well, you could, but it wouldn't be fair, I guess. You should have individual game for each game café PC I guess, isn't that how it works usually? Except for LAN, since LAn was always possible with a single game copy, unless I'm mistaken. Online multiplayer not though, so I guess games without dedicated servers where you need a unique key are a fair game.

You're right. That simple no is the best answer to both the "How long may I play my bought games?" and the "How it works on gog?" questions of the OP.. Well done, full marks to you.

P..S. And unlikely as it is, the license can be revoked, so while one could play their bought games, they would be breaking the law. So it's a "correct" answer to all 3 questions. Full marks again.

While I would guess that GOG will go out of business (or get bought by another company and altered beyond recognition) long before Steam will close its doors, the beauty of GOG's DRM-free approach is that -- for the games you've already got downloaded and/or installed -- it won't matter. So, if you're worried about that kind of thing, just make sure to download a backup installer for each game you buy here (as well as any bonuses you care about) and keep it on an external hard drive/flash drive/DVD-R, and you'll be safe from any such eventuality.
