Perhaps I'm being completely blind, but I can't see any indication of how much longer a game is on sale for. There's a count-down for bundles, but not an individual title.

Until the end of the sale.
New games get discounted each day.

"Until the end of the sale" is NOT a solution - because the end of the sale is unknown.

E.g. Grim Dawn has been on sale for a few days and there is nowhere I can find where it ends on the game page.

They are on sale until two minutes before I decide to buy it.

They go back on sale two minutes after I buy it.

When this thread was posted, it was a valid solution, because back then, GOG would put together per-sale pages that enumerated all the on-sale titles and each such page included a countdown showing how long until the end of the sale. They also would write up big hard-to-miss news announcements that would tell you exactly when each sale was scheduled to end and where to find the per-sale list of titles offered in that sale. For big sales, the front page would get involved and sometimes offered its own countdown timer too. Ever since the site redesign, it's very painful to know why a game is on sale (some sales don't get a dedicated per-sale page at all; those that do are not announced in a hard-to-miss format, since the news articles are now presented in an easy-to-miss format). If you don't know why it's on sale (which is now hard to know), it's hard to find when the sale ends.

As best I can recall, the game page itself has never told you when the sale ends. You always needed to get it out of the sale announcement posted by the GOG staff.

Well, if you're gonig to buy a game that's on discount, buy it. If not, then don't. How long it's actually on discount is kind of a moot point if you know it's discounted now, and want to buy but don't, it's not GOG's fault. I don't get the concept of people waiting until the end of a sale to buy things on digital storefronts.

Some people buy using payment methods that charge a flat fee per transaction. Such people minimize their out-of-pocket costs by making as few transactions as possible. If you expect more games you want will go on sale before the end of the current sale, it is cheaper to wait and buy them as a single transaction. GOG's "Wallet" feature is a partial attempt to address this, but is necessarily insufficient because using it optimally requires knowing exactly how much to put in the Wallet on your first transaction. You don't know that until you have a specific list of games and their discounts. If you had that list, you could buy now instead of loading the Wallet.

Another case where waiting makes sense is if the buyer is uncertain whether he/she wants the game. Perhaps he/she would be more inclined to buy it if his friends also bought it, but the friends won't be able to answer that for hours or days. Perhaps he would be more inclined to buy if it were compatible with third party mods, or was positively reviewed by a trusted source, or ran well on unsupported platforms. The buyer needs time to research answers to those questions. If the end of the sale is imminent, the buyer might speculatively buy and hope the research turns out positively when he has time to do it. If the sale is good for another week, the buyer has time to research now, and not deal with unwinding the transaction if the research reveals that this is not a good purchase.

Finally, there is the simple answer: GOG previously provided this information. Customers became accustomed to having this information. GOG no longer provides this information in a reasonably useful form. Customers are unhappy that the feature was removed without good cause.

I had that problem recently with Redout being on sale and it said no deadline. I had to

Where it said news, I looked for Redout or whatever game you're specifically looking for.
Redout was released on GOG recently so those titles usually go like "Release: Redout Solar Edition"

Clicking on the article showed that the sale was going to end on the 6th of December.


I know it's a bit involved but that's how it goes now for some games, especially releases sometimes because the weekly and weekend sales seem to have it differently and their own pages and News articles as well. It can get confusing.
