Recently, in my new job, people got ultra jerk-ish, as of late. I work in a well known local company which refills cartridges for laser printers with Toner.

Since the beginning they were trying to damage me; for instance, when first i borrowed one male coworker's USB to write for him an ebook he requested, i detected and removed a worm and when i mentioned it to him, first thing he asked was "what antivirus do you have?", clearly surprised and when i told him, he replied "you got a heavy one, uninstall it and put a lighter in".

Then they put me in the machine to refill plastic bottles with toner, without a mask and they did not tell me to have the vacuum on while filling (like when they do when operating it), leaving me to do the job without safe measures the first few times i used it.

Worst was this Monday. They fooled me completely. One of those jerks asked me to see down on the floor if i could locate a small item he dropped and really needed, so i crawled on the floor and looked hard for the damn thing desiring to help, meanwhile him sprinkling TONER directly on my head from above in little quantities thinking i was so foolish as to not notice, but i said nothing. Starting yesterday, i feel my lungs heavy as if i had a flu, whenever i spit or clear my nose, fluid is pitch black instead of white healthy or green sickly, and very recently, even small droplets of blood appear together with nose and throat fluid.

Concerning toner i have read many things, but as always, i do not at once believe everything written online. I take it that people who know many things on computing technology gather round these parts too, so i wanted to ask for help, in the form of advice. Am i in danger? Will i get a serious health issue out of the entire matter? Can i somehow clear my inside of this thing? Internet articles on it say that it can cause serious damage and even cancer... Please help? I need serious advice and above all, valid...

I have been servicing copiers for the past 19 years and have dealt with toner almost on a daily bases. I have never worn any type of mask while dealing with it, and I have breathed it while working. I have had no ill effects from toner and doubt you should be concerned.

Get some air filter breathing masks. They're cheap and they should do a good job of filtering out any unwanted contaminates from the toner. If anyone calls you names for wearing them just tell them to +F+ themselves. They're not going to offer to pay for any of your medical bills, so what value does their opinion have? At the end of the day the only one who can put your health in priority is yourself.
In America workers compensation pays for all work related injuries and illnesses. I would recommend seeing a medical professional. Determine if the illness or injury is work related and if it is. Seek out a legal representative, (lawyer) . Take legal action against them for not providing you with safety training and not keeping you safe. I am in no way a legal professional and can't give advice concerning the laws but there has to be some you can get a hold of. Start with a doctor, he may know who to contact afterwards!

KiNgBrAdLeY7: ...
What you want are the Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for the specific products you're working with. The manufacturers' websites will have them, and they may be included with the materials (toners) themselves.

You're also going to need a piece of wood with nails in it, and a dark alley.

Well so long as whatever chemicals it is only effects your brain I think you'll be fine.
Go to a doctor for your health issue.

Go to the HR representative for your work related issue if this goes on. This is clear case of passive aggressive bullying at workplace.
Your co-worker tried sneakily sprinkling toner on your head after asking you to get something dropped?

...you have the strangest problems ever.

Thanks for the replies. Doc and Materials Safety Data Sheets is no1 to be checked at very first chance, HP support contact no2 and quitting job no3, first thing new week comes.

Bullying? Could qualify as such. I could easily break not only their faces, but their entire bodies in answer if i wanted, but those cretins have families and little children. Besides, best medicine for bullying is being totally insensitive to it, they get bored and quit most of the times and real fast, too (in other and in normal cases, at least).

What makes me worry though is that they themselves use precaution measures like paper/surgery masks and vacuum cleaner when working in the back lab, while they intentionally put me to operate there without any, the first few times. And even then, they themselves are constantly coughing and wheezing like elderly people, as if they have chronic asthma, even if they are healthy and young themselves, too. Which probably translates into "long overexposure to it CAN have some aftereffects ANYWAY"!

About the job, blast it. They are rude, they sabotaged me (and in health related issue, god damn it) and while i keep doing my best to aid them in ANYTHING, not only work related, they act as if i had been their slave.

If the coworkers are jerking at you in such a way that even your health is in danger, this is no loger a joke. It's mobbing and this can even cost their jobs, if you tell the boss or go to labor court. Would be good to have some evidence. If such people loose their job, I wouldn't mind. Next time they'll think twice before doing such things.

Mh... you're surrounded by adult people, right?
Talk to them, tell them how you feel (not crying or over reacting, just be serious with them) and well, if they laugh at you like some teenage bullies... well, you know what to do... you're quitting the job anyway, right?

Let them enjoy their sick lungs.

PS: I would tell you also to contact HP, since as Silverhawk says this is pretty serious, but I don't know how greek laws are at the moment.

Dude, you need to stand up for yourself. If you are being harassed at work, tell the manager about.

You should do something about your co-workers. Either talk with them and so they could understand( btw. are they adults or not) or just ignore them and don't do anything they says, or you know the last situation is to report them to your work representatives.
As for your health troubles, maybe go to a doctor to check you and see why you cough blood.
