New here and to the world of Virtual Box. I managed to get the game installed on Virtual Box running Windows 95. But it wont actually start. Any progress from anyone on this thread?

Hm... I'm not 100% sure because I've never run it via virtual box with Windows 95 (though that does sound like a good idea) but I know when I used Windows XP Mode on my Windows 7 Laptop and I played the game on there I could only open it once and then I had to either reinstall the game or Windows XP Mode (sorry it's been a while so I can't remember which). Would you be able to run windows 98 through the virtual box? (not sure how to acquire it but that might be a possible solution).

Is it that you launch the game and nothing happens? I don't think Windows 95 had any type of compatibility settings... that might be a tough one to try and fix. But that's a good sign that the game installed though! Let me know what's happening with it - I'm definitely hoping to get the game running smoothly on modern computers so hopefully we can unravel some clues on how to get it working properly (preferably without the need of virtual computers!).

I Still Need Help Trying to Run Nightmare Ned on Windows 10!

Has anyone else around here had any luck getting Nightmare Ned to run on Windows 10? The best I've been able to do is to use a slightly modified Windows XP mode in Virtual Box but the game's audio is super messed up and the game's speed is ridiculously fast.

I'm wondering if there's anyone who knows their way around old computer games that would know how to get the game to run without the use of a virtual pc and if there's a way to modify the game itself perhaps? Also, ScummVM doesn't currently support the game and the game is not meant to be run in DOSBOX because it's not a DOS game.

The installer is a 16 bit stub (which is always a delight), the PCGamingWiki has no information about it, but it has a Platinum rating in WineHQ.

That wouldn't be a virtual pc, but it'd certainly be outside the realm of what you seek, I presume.

Well, to try and not be too complex, as a cost saving measures, some games would make their installers one less bit era than the then current standard. So Windows is 32 bit, but can still run 16 bit things. (Then, not now.)

I'm just not sure what steps I should take in order to get Nightmare Ned to run on Windows 10. Preferably I'd like to just be able to run it without the use of a Virtual PC but I don't know enough about launching old PC games to achieve that. I feel like if they added it to ScummVM that would be a great way to run the game. There's a couple of parts in Nightmare Ned where the game runs too fast because it's using the CPU speed (I think?) and I know that King's Quest VII had the same issue with a section as well but through ScummVM that problem was solved.

I can't answer how to get it running on windows 10, but I just got it running on the Steam Deck last night! It took a little work and I had to setup a controller profile but it works perfectly
