Leroux: I imagine there are hoarders among people who download pirated copies of games as well, people who just download everything they can just because they can, without really playing everything they downloaded, acting out of similar impulses as the people who buy everything just because it's cheap. Not to compare actual customers with freeloaders and leechers or to contradict your valid point about treating customers right, with which I sympathize; just saying that, that the connections you see and conclusions you draw are not necessarily as clear as it may seem at first glance.
Before GOG came along I hoarded a ton of old "abandonware" games no one sold anymore. I still do, but only the ones GOG/etc don't sell.
falloutttt: well said, comrade! i'll drink to that!
sorry for a random question, but your avatar, what movie/game is it from ? it kind of reminds me of something, but i can't seems to remember... :P
StarChan: Hi, somebody in the 'what does the avatar above you remind you of' thread said it looked like 'the lady from Ghostbusters 2'. It isn't from any film or game though, it's merely a portrait I found (of noone in paticular) that resemble me to some extent. (Yup I wear glasses etc.)
I had another, blue-haired one earlier. That felt kind of weird.
You should give it to fairfox.....she likes blue haired avatars.
StingingVelvet: My backlog is full of stuff I don't actually want to play and will probably never get around to. Console style action games, strategy games and modern point and click adventure games. I like these genres so-so and play one here and there, but I vastly prefer other stuff and have limited time, so I never get around to them. I don't see this changing.
Stuff I actually like and play often... RPGs, singleplayer FPS games, stealth games... I do a pretty good job of keeping up with and finishing. My current backlog for these games I actually play would be just a handful from each genre, like these:
Prey (2017)
Thief (2014)
Metal Gear Solid V
Pillars of Eternity 2
Pathfinder: Kingmaker
Underrail
Thief 2014 is pretty good for a new thief game...I would recommend it as I finished it and enjoyed it and the various environments/missions(Asylum is one of my favorites of the missions).
