shaddim: some brave gog'ers created another thread, reminding gearbox :)

Judging by how fast the last thread got ugly I don't have high hopes for a civil discussion. :(

Stay calm and polite and hopefully something good will come out of this.

Also, stay factual. In the first post in that tread it is mentionend that they promised to release it on " today's leading digital platforms". This is a vague statement and does not, sadly, necessarily include gog.

Update: new gog thread still open, maybe due to distraction of the mods with other pressing topcis like the many complaints about the missing HW1 mechanics in the remastered version.

Also, GBX even removed without need features (e.g. lan game) from the classic version.... :/

SirPrimalform: EDIT: Huh, apparently a lot of people who are intimately familiar with the original HW1 are annoyed that the remaster plays like HW2. I know they ported HW1 to the HW2 engine, but they should have then modified said engine to replicate the correct gameplay for HW1. Balance in RTS games is important and it seems like they've screwed it up. Hopefully they'll patch HW1R to play like HW1.
This is what I keep reading, apparently HW1R was a lazy port and the Homeworld Collection is not worth buying at full price for HW1 fans. Also, I wouldn't hold my breath on Gearbox fixing it.

Whyy... why fixing what isn't broken?? FUUU!
I was reading nice things about this re-release, but still no GOG version and now these news..
Dear companies, leave the LAN option alone, for f**k sake!

Why would they give up the level of control that forcing you to go through the internet provides? :P
drmopponent, I don't know who you are here but please ease up a bit over there on the Gearbox forum...
Wow, Emericablind's username really suits them well. Blind and completely ignorant.

It looks like the mod around in the thread doesn´t want any kind of discussion about DRM vs. DRM free: "This thread is not going to become a discussion of drm. Register your interest in a GoG release, if you want."
Well, sounds kind of strange and unfamiliar, but I believe that it doesn´t hurt that much anyways...

As others have also mentioned that point:
It was my personal impression, didn´t gave a thought to "tactics" and so on, was the first way that came to my mind how to set up such a thread; tactic-wise it might have been better to find another start for such a thread, but...
...in the end you are always smarter then you were in the beginning! :D

The problem is that if the discussion turns to DRM-free vs DRM, some Steam fanboy will inevitably come in and go "I think Steam is good because it stops piracy!!" and then we're locked again.

I think that it was a wonderful "attack strategy": stick to the facts and pretend to be naive but ask the right questions.
The fact that Psychichazard got so upset confirms my impression.

I talked to Psychichazard and it sounds like he´s more willing to close threads then deleting posts! (kind of strange, never "encountered" such form of moderation before...)
In particular it looks like he simply doesn´t want to see ANY argumention in the thread anymore...
...might render that thread useless, might make it a thread to simply collect support!

This post might be the essential part, and if we get others to participate in that scheme...

Me too. I had a lengthy conversation with him and although he claimed to have been warning people, he seems to be of the opinion that discussion of DRM will always lead to discussion of piracy (and by discussion of piracy he means mentioning piracy, it doesn't have to be actually about piracy).

I think the part I put in bold here is unfortunate. This basically means that anyone who does not like the discussion can just barge in and act in a way that results in the thread being closed.

Yea, better be careful here and not be baited by inflammatory remarks.

Yep,I told him the same but he didn´t answered on that...(answered on some other questions, but not on that one; in my opinion that factor/ troll option is simply counterproductive and unfair!)
