Even on GOG I'm not sure i'd want to give Gearbox my money. I really wish someone else got a hold of those rights.

Apparently the developer of Sins of a Solar Empire bid on the rights for the Homeworld remake. I think Ironclad Games would have been a great developer for remaking Homeworld.

no they suck at story telling cause they havent told any, the only thing that would have made sin of solar empire an awesome game would be a single player campaign with the awesome lore that is hanging in the opening cut scene and background.
Homeworld has a crazy level of lore, narration and immersion

Is there any chance Sins of a Solar Empire could make it to GOG? I've never played that game before.

I keep hoping Homeworld can somehow make it to GOG, but it's unfortunate that Gearbox doesn't seem open to the idea. :-/

I respect Ironclad, Sins was an excellent game. I think they'd have done well too.

Since they'd just be remastering and not making a game from scratch that's kind of a moot point. I'm sure they'd have kept the story and lore intact as it was.
Given that DLC has had a fairly poor reception on GOG, and Gearbox seems to love making ridiculous quantities of DLC perhaps they do not think it is a good fit for GOG.

I take it you've never played Sword of the Stars: The Pit before on GOG! :P
Already posted and this psychichazard dude is pretty much a douche IMHO. if he locks the topic then we really know they dont give a flying fuck whatsoever. and yes I did start the campaign because im sick and fucking tired of centralizing all of our games into one system. its turning it into a hive mind and we have a right to keep the communities split for one thing. Competition and individual rights. we never had the internet in the 90s and pretty much was peaceful . now the big corporations are abusing this technology to get filthy rich quicker and to enslave our gamers with restrictions that they think they are protecting our rights. the person responsible for this whole mess is Bill Clinton when he signed the DMCA act. That gave the big corps full power to screw with us and I have had it and its time to put an end to DRM for every game so we can be free!. I think it stands now that everyone who is reading this sign my petition and anyone who also put this on their wishlist for make DRM free should also sign as well. WHOS WITH ME!!?!?!

I deleted my account on that forum. They promote unethical methods like DRM and forbid criticizing them with an excuse that it's "discussing piracy".
Same Here. I can't stand the fact thst asshole locks the topic because of the fucking piracy excuse. I'm sorry but that company is not getting my money anymore because of what they did. Someday someone is gonna hack steam to the point where its damaged beyond repair. That's why we can't have centralized systems.

It's a shame that they can't moderate properly their forums, but raging isn't gonna help...

haydenaurion: Yeah, i'm struggling to find where the supposed "discussion of piracy" took place in that thread.
avatar
SirPrimalform: That's because it was removed by the mod. Look just above the mod's post in which they mention piracy.

This particular mod's interpretation of the rules seems to include discussion about piracy in an academic sense, not just discussion of 'how to pirate' or 'where to pirate'.
Yep, now I see it. Couldn't see it before because of a glitch on my end I guess.

As MikeMaximus said it doesn't matter if they're good at making stories or not since the story in Homeworld is already written and done. They'd just be updating the graphics and sounds mainly.

Besides Sins doesn't need a story. Its sandbox mode and random map generator more than enough makes up for that. Enough with all the holding hands and steering in Strategy games I say. Just give me a random map, different factions that actually are different and not only have different skins and throw me into the unknown to make my own destiny.

I don't think there's much chance of Sins getting to GOG. Stardock Entertainment , the publisher of Sins is firmly entrenched on steam. Besides their CO or whatever he is seems to be a total arsehole.

But I agree that it would be very nice to have the Sins games here so one can hope. :)

It's sad that they've jumped on the MOBA wagon. They're developing a MOBA that supposedly is different from the big ones but the little I've played it I don't see much of a difference. Granted I'm not really a MOBA player. Too much fast clicking and multiplayer competition for me.
I'm just hoping their MOBA adventure will grant them enough revenue to make a Sins 2 with a 64bit engine.

Heh, and now the topic is locked again supposedly for piracy discussion, but I can't find any since the mod's previous post. He's also said that any further topics on the subject (of GOG and a DRM-free release) will be locked. Surely if discussion of piracy was the problem, you'd punish the people breaking the rule, not the people who want to have a discussion.

Yeah, very disappointing on Gearbox's end. Not surprised though, I knew from the moment I heard Gearbox got the rights that it had a slim to none chance of showing up on gog. I was willing to get it on Steam in a later sale, but that attitude has put me off of even getting it there.
