... will not happen on gog, looks like. Guessing on the gearbox moderator lock down of threads for a "DRM-free release of homeworld" in the gearbox forum (beside, seems they had to shut shut down the complete forum to suppress the drm-free uprise... ;) archived )

Therefore, it seems, user zgrillo2004 started a campaign for: " Release a DRM free version of Homeworld: Remastered!"

Edit: accompanied newly created gearbox thread

Edit: locked again, due to the provocative post (mentioning piracy) of a Steam supporter.... :( (Maybe voice politely your disagreement with the decision of a to close the thread due to a post of a newly registered user... I would call that [url=http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/t/forum-rules-please-read/426/3]policy misuse by that user.)

EDit: someother brave gog'ers took up the torch and pitchfork ;) http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/t/it-seems-like-you-got-a-little-delayed/96225

The issue is the multilayer ,which works with steam, and not Gog,com

There's a chance that the unremastered version will arrive here, although I'm uncertain.

Galaxy. :P
I went ahead and made a fresh thread for the new forum, if anybody wants to post in it. Don't spam but don't let your voice be silenced if this is important to you.

Yup, it was for me.
I am afraid GBX vehemently hates anything and everything that can even remotely be seen as a good thing in this industry. They are some of the most greedy people that have ever walked on the face of the earth.

Well, some eager moderator took his chance for closing the thread for " discussion piracy" (not promoting piracy!). I checked, they really have this forums rule. But i'm baffled that a discussion about gog and drm is associated pro-piracy, I see gog as inherent anti-piracy, a matured audience.... :/

Well, looks like geabox looks for a specific audience. But on the other hand., if we don't keep raising our voice for better customer respecting silutions, noone will do, so thanks to everyone who voices his opinion.

How do I send messages on their werid forums? The rules clearly indicate that discussion of piracy is forbidden, but in context of getting and sharing illegal copies of games and I'll gladly point this out to him or maybe somebody a bit higher in their ranks. ;>

E: Nevermind, I suddenly have the ability to send PMs, because er... I got some kind of badge.

Yeah, i'm struggling to find where the supposed "discussion of piracy" took place in that thread.
I would love to get Homeworld here but It looks like the best option (to me) is to get the originals on Amazon.

Good news, our combined reasonable asking for a reopening of the gog thread was followed.
Please, everyone stay classy, respect the gearbox forum rules and don't mention piracy while presenting & defending our position.

I'd still like to see the Homeworld games come to GOG.com

Bump.

Not that I'm optimistic about it...

Just a reminder: Mods on Gearbox forums don't seem to be mean, but they prefer when discussions stay on track and I suspect they may be allergic to word "piracy".

That's because it was removed by the mod. Look just above the mod's post in which they mention piracy.

This particular mod's interpretation of the rules seems to include discussion about piracy in an academic sense, not just discussion of 'how to pirate' or 'where to pirate'.
