Like a boss.

Hollow Knight, the charmingly morbid Metroidvania about a bug's life and many deaths, just received another free update called Lifeblood.

It is crawling with bug fixes, optimizations, and welcome tweaks, while also adding a brand new boss (which comes with its own kick-ass music track!), custom map markers, and additional sound effects and voices, among other things.

GOG.com: The update will be available for Linux at a later date.

Stormwalker: Of course, Linux users are second-class citizens so we should obviously expect to get the update weeks or months after everyone else. What was I thinking getting excited about this post?
Yeah, I can't imagine why the team of THREE people will prioritize releasing stuff for Windows with its 82% market share instead of Linux with 1.5%.

Alexim: Awesome game, awesome devs, absolutely a must have for every gamer!

Fairfox: it does look cute!

Usually with the discount it cost less than 10 dollars, it's absolutely a bargain for that price.

reative00: It's full of bugs tho.
Cute bugs!
Hollow Knight, one day you will be mine. Just you wait.

It's awesome to see devs adding new content at no extra cost! They are totally not forced to do that, so they have my full respect.

Unless it takes months to update the Linux release, they would only have to wait until that's ready too, so everyone can enjoy the update at the same time. But if they needed to boost the sales, no wonder they pushed the partial update. And it's a free update, which is awesome. Thanks, Team Cherry! :) I don't own the game, but I think I'll buy it at some point, most likely after it gets the Linux update - although I'm not sure if that will get a news release.
I think it's a sad age in the gaming world when it has to be stressed that a certain game's patches/updates are free...

We don´t deserve you Team Cherry. Thank you!
Thanks for continuing to update the game (and reminding me to play it some more), even if the Linux version is delayed.
Hollow Knight is one of the best games I played in many years. It is worth much more than the $14.99 they ask for it. And with every free content patch I feel a bit guiltier, that I bought it on discount. Don´t make the same mistake, buy it for full price and support the developers. Just sayin´.
It is available for linux from day 1. Yesterday morning i hooked up Steam and the update waited for me. 1 hour after release I played it on linux. So it way a day1 update for linux on Steam. I don't know that GOG has some extra thing to do with it or what...
I am also curious as to why the Linux version is taking longer, given that it's been available on Steam since the beta.

Except that's not what's happening here at all. Team Cherry has been absolutely great at supporting Linux! Every build of the beta for Lifeblood even was released for Linux at the exact same time as it was for Windows, and Linux has been constantly synchronized with the Windows releases on Steam. GOG has not been great at supporting Linux, and GOG is a team of much more than three people.

And Team Cherry themselves said that every build of the game would be up on GOG and Humble "within 24 hours" and that they had already uploaded everything; GOG has not fulfilled their job there.

Hornet DLC incoming (it's going to be paid one), so you'll have a chance to throw more money at them!
Speaking of Hornet DLC and Switch, does anyone knows how DLC works on Switch? Do I have to buy the game through Nintendo e-store instead of box version to be able to download DLC?

Ah ok, that's explains a lot. I thought that poster I was quoting was pissed at Team Cherry for not delivering Linux updates and thought that's butthurt isn't really justified for such small company, but seems like they're good guys after all.
ok, now I couldn't resist anymore, bought :) thanks devs, you're very cool!

reative00: NO
NO NO NO NO

I thought it's Gods and Glory already. :(
C'mon Team Cherry let me throw more money at you.
Release it on switch already.
Please, Team Cherry.
A lot of this update consists of changes they were making for the Switch version. Considering the number of bugs reported and fixed while Lifeblood was in beta, it's a good thing they decided to test it on the PC version first.
