Not hip hop, but DnB has always had a relation, and in lieu of a proper thread (and also believing that many of the regular visitors to this particular thread will enjoy it), here is the dark, jazz tinged DnB classic album (that some numpty left on youtube), MYSTERIES OF FUNK!

Good stuff guys.

Dope D.O.D feat Gemitaiz. I like this one, but I still miss Dopey Rotten though.

Massive repeat: SHIMMY SHIMMY YA
Never a dull moment with Ol' Dirty Bastard.
Worth a mention - partially because its funny, partially because the original track is quality.
No youtube version at this minute, so you'll have to do with the twatter link.

That is really cool to watch. The rapper (I don't know him) is totally baffled by his performance. I love it.

...and did you check it out? O____o/

One place I used to frequent (MANY years ago now) used to post lists of various tracks that were sampled in particular hip-hop / related albums. It great to hear some of the original (and lesser known) origins of these tracks, and was also great for discovering new music.

While Blue Boy aint exactly hip-hop, its related...

...and Im sure plenty of you will appreciate Marlena Shaw.

Anybody else got one?

Well, these are pretty famous:

Nas and Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley - As We Enter
-> sampled Mulatu Astatke - Yegelle Tezeta

Wu-Tang Clan - Tearz
-> sampled Wendy Rene - After Laughter

Also, regarding your post here, JB's "True Blue"
-> sampled 20th Century Steel Band - Heaven and Hell

Followed by the mega triple combo:
Jennifer Lopez - Jenny from the Block
-> who sampled Beatnuts - Watch Out Now
-> who sampled Enoch Light - Hijack

And two of the probably most sampled beats ...

James Brown - Funky Drummer
Salt-N-Pepa - Push It

... with two current favorite reincarnations:

People Under The Stairs - 1 Up Til Sun Up (I've posted the original video before, so here's a fan made one instead)
Bonde do Role - Jabuticaba
