Not really, that's comparing apple and oranges, there is a big difference between pretending to shoot somebody with a finger gun and exploding somebody body in photo realistic bloody gibs.

And on the other way the visible "porno" part here is a bunch of covered anime or 3D rendered boobies with nothing more explicit than what kids can see everyday in clothing magazines or ads.

If Gog was displaying explicit sex scene on the front page or even in the game page screen shots then maybe the "think of the children" argument might have had some weight to it but it's not the case.

I see we understand each other. Except for very few people here, most seem to be ok with the way it currently works.

I would like a configurable filter very much (not just tag based, but also per game), but I doubt that GOG has the manpower to implement that anytime soon.
I just don't see any need for hiding adult games in general for being adult games. Their banners are really harmless. Most of the time one has to check twice if it's a Zelda style RPG or a adult VN, they both look the same. Anime TV shows for kids shown in the afternoon are more explicit.

That's my one real issue with all of this, the characters in games generally seem to be designed because men want to be them or men want to look at them.

But yeah, I'd happily avoid most of the games you linked (got three Tomb Raider games recently though).

That's true because except for mobile puzzle players most gamers are still male and you sell what people like to look at.
(with exceptions: In SWG we had plenty of women)

About 20 years ago a german game magazine (PC Action) for about one or two years sold their magazines with two cover variants: One with some game art and the other with a model cosplaying a game character or a game inspired character (a girl in a silver space suit and a light saber, a Command&Conquer Tanya cosplay model and so on) and also featured that model in the test to the game. Guess which variant was sold more often :) But they stoped that experiment after that.

I kept the Article with the Jedi Outcast test, it was just too silly.

I got Tomb Raider and Blood Rayne, I am not interested in the others (but not because of the images, the games are just not for me).

That doesn't make it not rubbish though. I'd probably avoid buying either version of the magazine if I saw the one with the "sexy" cover (but I'm an odd one). Did they not do a cover that was designed to appeal to straight women?

But I think you'll agree that most guys would rather avoid a game magazine with a sexy man on the cover.

Disinterest? I'm as likely to avoid a magazine with a "sexy" man on the cover as I am to avoid one with a sports car on the cover. I don't have a "carphobia", it simply implies contents I have no interest in.

Dunno, if you lose interest in the content (the short discussion was about game magazines that for a certain time female models on their cover to increase sales) because of that man where you would be interested otherwise, then I think it doesn't describe it properly.
