WHY IS THIS STILL A THING!?

If you are asking to be given a way to hide items featuring any type of sexual content, you are out of luck, there is not going to be any such filters or rules you can set in your profile. At least not any time soon.

On your question why this is still a thing? Because adults got different tastes - one of them being sexual in nature. GOG finds that there is a market for this content, it sells, so this type of NSFW/AO content has come to stay.

Rules being rules, though, there are some inroads being made not to offend or please potential customers browsing the store, too much, allowing them discover what they love to attack but would never buy by stopping to allow certain content in, which was perfectly fine before as is evidenced by items in the catalog proper. Double standards, for as yet unknown reasons, so the holy sea might prevent, what censors and the holy inquisition are opposed to, likely based on someone else's guidance - holy writs of only one type, the right type of consumer has sanctus to be catered to, while everyone else is just perverts and depraved [enter a string of designations to describe customers of such other content, declared evil and perverted].

If one is allowed in all its gory glory, but others must be policed for inclusivity, not to offend please people, while denying any pleasure to an-other subset of customers, the board of censors (vulgo: curators) are guilty of drawing on arbitrary rules, to draw lines where there is no reason to. At the end of the day it should not matter which kinds of games GOG is selling, action, violence, pornographic as long as their clients are adults who must not be protected, able to decide what they wish to pay money for - and consume

My humble philippika is campaigning for openness to this genre in all its forms as is granted every other, not so under scrutiny and with lots of opposition based on its content or the sheer fact that it is used for sexual gratification, as opposed to games being brutal, violent and thus acceptable. Treat them in the same way!

I would also like to emphasize the fact that I am in total support for adult filters, so other customers are able to go about browsing the store for peaceful games instead, like Sniper Elite 2 or RPG like Baldur's Gate III while chanting: we are all peaceful, lovely moral creatures, opposed to any sexual content, romances of any kinds because we are not human beings anymore, while virtually doing all the right things, killing, looting, robbing, committing perversions - oh!

So I do hope there will some day way to filter all games and any kind of content or does anyone really like - or would buy any game and DLC on GOG, just because? I would say, hardly. Until this day has come, my personal suggestion to you Xankara is to install uBlock Origins to manually create your very own list of games, you would not like to be confronted with, using the following template:

www.gog.com##a[href*=discounted],[href*="pillaged_village"],[href*="beastking_training"],[href*="nyoninjima"], [href*="fantasy_tavern_"],[href*="trap_yuri"],[href*="hiveswap"],[href*="ruins_seeker"],[href*="pestersim"],[h ref*="beat_angel"],[href*="ultimate_anime"],[href*="sunrider_academy"],[href*="herald_an_interactive_period"], [href*="timespinner"],[href*="chihiro_himukai_"],[href*="clouzy"],[href*="jennis_dong_"]:upward(.ng-star-inser ted, product-title.ng-star-inserted, .has-discount, .tabbed-section)

Adding to this list is easy, open the store page, look at the url and use [href*=game_name] to hide it individually, or when there are titles with lots of additional content or a series plus DLC, add [href*="partial_game_name] and put it on your block list. This is the best you can do until an official solution has been granted their humble, paying customers, particularly those not discriminating based on content, or personal opinion what other adults are - and are not, entitled to consume.

If you made it to this point, you earned yourself a code for Tomb Raider™ - Legend:
BUCPCXXXBD5AEDC106
-------- 7B4 ------------------

Have fun shooting and training your most important life skills, how to effenciently remove virtual offspring with as little ammo as possible. :)

That's the interesting thing...i've yet to see anyone make threads about wanting/needing a filter for violent games. Yet the gog forums seems to get a new thread against lewd games every few fortnites.

But doing so will not allow them to keep complaining as much and a number of people in general are lazy ;)

I trust that Xankara has a genuine interest not to be bothered with (m)any such particular - and more generally other titles a person has no interest in, as I trust others - particularly long time customers and active members of this community are - me including; On your poignant remark I can't help but ask: What would keep people from complaining, if they were given official options by GOG to permanently filter content they are opposed to and a way to put any content - adult oriented, sexually explicit games?

I think, we both know the answer, it would expose people whose only interest is to dictate what other adults can think, say, play and do, based on their own beliefs and moral. They can then be ignored and banned if they kept continuing to complain about every otther new release, they are opposed to, which these individuals believe should be banned from a family friendly store. Parents and other adults ;-)

More like a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7WHCuz0-Dw situation, from the looks of it.
Poor man.

What about this one? It's an apt enough response to the problem at hand. "You probably should ignore that".

I used to think the same but ask yourself "why" and there is really no objective reason to target "porn games" like this.

On the new releases page there is currently "Resident Evil 3" next to "Nymphomaniac - Sex Addict", does it make sense to censor only one of these games?

Well, what if you were able to censor NSA through your account and I was able to censor RE3 through mine, is this good for the store?
hey, OP, Jago has you covered.

So games about murdering people are alright, but sex is crossing the line?

It does not, in either case, when there is no sensible reason to do it, and what could be such a reason? The invasion of a protectionist mindset, not for the protection of groups and individuals from media, violent, cozy but at heart very political or otherwise, adults being put into a position of children, they are getting told by other adults what they can and should consume, and which it is they are not based on the judgment of a set of individuals, who should not assume the roles of gatekeepers and censorship organs. This is the worst thing to do I am able to imagine, because these people are in no way legitimized to do it.

The rational rule and guiding question to inform it, should be: Is all of its content legal in the country it is sold? If it is not - even if it is in other countries, they should not care about and tolerate censorship for peoples living in mature societies, where adults are deemed to know what is and isn't appropriate on a personal level, without being dictated what it is - much less to block people from making legal purchases for content, they are otherwise entitled to buy for reason of age and being adult.

In a sane world you could mod anything you don't like out of titles, or others in, but in the current environment removal or change of characters is a crime - because options are only good, if it is for one side, but not for others. This is the world guiding decisions, not to allow certain types of content in - perfectly acceptable before, from murder to group rape, to extreme perversions, yes - this is present in titles on GOG, while it is no longer tolerable now?

In a sane world people able to make such decisions should stop and think, what they are doing before they act, maybe out of fear to become victimized by groups in general opposed to this content, and they can wield their destructive raids relatively easy where on this planet they are, affecting directly GOG and their customers, if this was part of the change of heart.

In a sane world, such people would become unheard instead of listened to and acted upon their every demands, because this is all but good in consequence what they are doing in the name of children, the saddest excuse of them all or in the names of others, most of these have no right to raise their voices for.

Yes, this is very much political, yes, this is very much also just about games and which ones are good and holy and entitled to be added to the halls of Good Old Games, and which are not any longer or only censored - if it must be and no other pretext or rule can be found to deny it. If this is how it is going to be, I sincerly hope GOG will finally budge, add the ignore function and adult filters, and let people rave and shout, they are not going to grow revenue and profits.

If someone reading this doesn't make the connection between destructive tendencies and people asking - but censorship is okay for one and not the other, as long as it suits your personal ideas and agenda and moral while others should get hidden and further marginalized and put out of sight - I would answer, no, either its both or none at all, and if it isn't both but one [kind of game/content], this is as wrong and should not be done, out of principle and the decency to respect the intellect of adult human beings, perfectly able to think and decide for themselves - particularly when options are offered to do so, no need to lecture and to force views on others by any means possible.

To summarize: Be consistent, in the decision making, give us options to filter all titles and don't ever allow censored or altered games on your store at all, because you are withholding content from paying customers.

DO the Good thing, instead, GOG! Provide a flow of games and content of all kinds, and in the quantity you are able to handle them, and see this as your only duty. Leave the patronicization and infantilization to activits, and politicians, but don't participate in it yourself - otherwise, one day soon, there will not be much left for review and add or preserve.

Thanks for reading and not deleting this, as it might be politically charged which is inevitable and ironic, when it is really about games and censorship, or allowance and denial of games, dicated by current day politics, while it is about games on GOG and prevention of doing damage to an otherwise open-minded store and bastion of DRM-freeness and preservation. Censored and butchered titles are not worthy of preserving, other than as symbolic witnesses for dark times in which double-speak is commonplace. Times, Orwell would have been equally horrified to have to witness and live through, as may have been the case in his own.

Title in all caps, same with OP post text. That plus wording plus the fact that "hiden lewd games plz" threads have become a running joke and the user joined in 2010? I canna suspend my disbelief that far, cap'n ;)
Hit up that wishlist and vote for one of the many entries asking for this or entries similar to this.

Glad that I am able to! ;-) It helps not to look up information about the person, to make a determination, where he is coming from. If I did, and based on the uppercase title of this topic, it could be an alt- or hijacked account. That this is still brought up, either as a joke or to complain, to me it is as good as any topic to point out new and not necessarily positive developments, and to plead for some adapations, changes and rationality. For all I know it will change nothing, but maybe some of the things I have written will make someone at GOG think, maybe even listen to concerns, to make some changes no one is going to get hurt by, and be open-minded instead of judgmental and partial, when it comes to allow or deny content based on new, arbitrary sets of rules.

Being whatever this topic was meant to be, bot spam, legit request, it doesn't do harm to have said what I had to say - even though I have said most of it numerous times before. :-)
