Laxiczek: GOG needs these to gain new users and I'm sure that not everyone vists the forum here

Fonzer: True but social media also brings problems. Many gamers fraud were reason for not bringing a game here and firing of someone for something else. But gog more honest communication on their forum would not hurt.
yeah

Fonzer: Why do we need all these social media when gog has a forum and should have communicated on here to inform us and interact.

This, it's a tool of outreach, and with some sliver of the people caring about owning their stuff, maybe their new strat of marketing their work as "preservation" will pay off. Or not because nobody actually cares about "owning your games". Still worth a try.

And a blog that they never use correctly. But more seriously, any corp worth the shinetops they fester will attempt a presence across multiple websites. Smarter ones will even tell which way the wind goes and have replaced the buttons down in the corner already.

SultanOfSuave: Please see attached image.
Gog has a bluesky account? Figures :D

Both are federated, self-hostable, and don't have the stink of an incompetent buffoon around them.
Better to be on a site run by Elon (buffoon or no) than one with a member base full of commies, pervs, and commie pervs. Xitter also has way more views and site traffic, making it better for exposing new customers to one's business.

botan9386: (Off-topic rant) I made an account and couldn't post anywhere, nobody replied to my comments, found out I was shadow banned, made another account, got actually banned, never told why. This happens to a lot of users, especially new. That platform is basically an exclusive club now for anybody who was an early adopter. All I wanted to do was talk about GPUs man.
With how that place can be (especially to newcomers), getting banned there is probably more of a godsend :)

I'll take the "commies, pervs, and commie pervs" (probably you think your carpet is communist?) over being on the same platform with Muskrat any day. I'm sorry, please try harder.

I don't know why people feel like previous Twitter was better. It was becoming very one-sided (like Reddit) before Elon bought it, and then it turned out Twitter and the FBI were buddies just sending information between each other. Feel like everybody forgot about that, that was one of the first things Musk exposed.

Hate him or not, Twitter previously might as well have been government-owned. And I don't know if people would prefer that.

Many liked it back then because non-approved opinions got censored and those that spoke them got banned. Elon was also considered hip pre-2016, but the hivemind are supposed to dislike him now. I personally don't like or dislike the man, he's just another rich dude I read about online now and then along with all the other crap online.

I don't know about the whole FBI thing, but what I did see of Twitter back then was that it was. Moderated. I like being in a moderated place, not in a toxic wasteland. So that was sort of the charm.

I initially thought Muskrat would just be the new owner, the news cycle would go the rounds, and then business as usual. Twitter's owner changed his name. No big deal. Oh boy I was wrong. Shoved himself into the algorithm so it was near impossible to avoid him even with a block, kept removing the moderation I liked about Twitter to begin with in the name of "muh free smooch", and then censored parody accounts made specifically to make fun of him. When I had enough with Twitter, I deleted the app off my phone and logged out of the browser.

I'd later switch to Mastodon and then Bluesky. They're so much better. All I wanted is to see a feed of people I want to follow and see art, nothing more. Bluesky lets me do that.
(huh?)

FarklesDoggo: Xitter had plenty of toxic speech before musk (ex: some saying 'white people should not exist') and such trash was often applauded and upvoted. So either you're blind or you didn't mind it because it was from 'your side'.
Ah, now you're finally saying something that isn't from an IQ of 0 or 1! Instead it's an IQ of 11. (In binary)

My retort to that is I haven't seen any of these cases on my feed so I can't comment. Must be because they're I don't know. Rare, or even made-up knowing "your side" tends to randomly call other people communist at the drop of a hat. If you did see one, go ahead and report it.
