GOGer: trust me, this is not normal.
Punchline. I got a kick out of that.

Remember when MS was focusing on winning the console wars but had to lose to realize they already had a big gaming market on PC? CD Projekt is like that with GOG, and is trying head over heels to have fingers in other pies despite having its own.

While every other publisher / developer is locking off their stuff and making their games exclusive, GOG is trying to destroy its uniqueness and become a glorified key-reseller. The forum features being neglected is a symptom of that.

Yeah, you're right, but I meant the GOG forum. Anyone lurking on the forum for a few days will immediately find out all the absurdities / bugs / shenanigans plaguing it.
Welcome anyway ! :D

People complain a lot about the forums. I think the forums are okay. As long as I can post and read other posts (which I can), it doesn't need to wow me. I don't think the forums are amateurish. I've seen plenty of amateurish in software and this ain't it. It looks okay and it is functional. The forums are lower-end professional grade. It's fine.

The main reason people are here (even for a lot of people who primarily use Galaxy though I'd personally like more of them to keep an eye on the quality of the offline installers) is for drm-free games.

The moment that starts going down the cr*pper (because its very difficult to maintain a proper backup of your games, because ever increasing portions of the games are online only for no good technical reason or just plain break down without the Galaxy servers even though they are not supposed to due to neglect), all we'll have left is an sellsman's illusion. A Steam knockoff, but more adept at reassuring its userbase.

I'd rather GOG don't spend a moment on the forums and focus on addressing that instead: Helping its users preserve as much of their games as they can when offline becomes the only option, which it will eventually.

I think the GOG forum is pretty grand, actually, compared to Reddit.

I mean, there's no algorithm burrowing downvoted threads, or auto-hiding downrated posts, or bots randomly deleting post and hiding said deletion from the poster, or selfrighteous moderators randomly banning users.

Anyhow, welcome to the forum everyone!

Downvoted postings are hidden automatically, unless the option to Hide posts: with negative rating is turned off in My Settings

There is also a setting to hide posts written by anonymous, is there even a way to post anonymous comments?

I think posts of deleted accounts stay in the forums and they're shown as posts from a "user" called "anonymous". A long time ago I've seen some posts from anonymous in a few older threads, where I was pretty sure that they weren't always anonymus.

Sometimes i've seen the name '___xxx___' or something similar, which may be a type of anonymous replacement for said accounts. Though i haven't looked/seen those names since 2016 when i was glancing through the wishlist pages.
