HunchBluntley: Despite how some people casually use the word "rectangle", it properly means "a closed two-dimensional figure composed of four straight sides (a.k.a. a quadrilateral) all connected at right angles"). So, all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares.
I guess, although I don't really think there is anyone out there who thinks square when they hear rectangle.

I'd rather use quadrangle for anything that's not the usual square or rectangle.
"Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era"
That title must be a typo. I'm sure it is supposed to mean Golden Era.
I almost downloaded heroes 6 & 7 today. Just to see what it was all about again(I have those titles in my ubi account) IT wasn't before long i remembered again that i found 6 to lacklustre and the campaign presented in 7 a bit to puzzly to my liking. I'm not prepared to buy such a game for a nice skirmish option. I do hope that the reference to H3 will come to full 'adulthood' but, as already noted, and with my own experience in Ubi titles (anno, settlers, AC odysee and valhalla) It probably will fail for someone looking for a passionate experience

huh, I mean, <blushes slightly> I do...

Fun fact: it got me some trouble before :)
It's Ubisoft so...you can forget about playing it outside of their launcher.

Breja: It looks like they saw Songs of Conquest and just realised "hey, we own the original they based this on, right? So we can just rip them off wholesale!"

That said, it looks quite good, if only because SoC looks great. I would sure like to play it (even if a clone of a clone is likely to suffer some defects), but the chances for a DRM free release from Ubi are next to none. we still don't have Heroes.. I'm sorry, Might & Magic: Heroes (rolls eyes at the pointless title alteration) VI and VII here, after all. And anyway, I haven't even played SoC yet, and that should have priority over the Ubisoft clone.
I want to be harsh. HoMM has declined, its banner has been taken by Age of Wonders first and then by King's Bounty

MartiusR: Lore of M&M before original HoM&M started is actually very interesting stuff - so great material for the game.

But if this is going to be based on Enroth (planet)... Then my assumption is, that it's gonna completely skip most (if not all) parts of that lore and... see there two possibilities:

1.They basically make from the scratch some story about things happening on Enroth in times before Morglin teleported on Enroth (so basically not-related too much to things we've learned previously.

2.It will be re-packed set of stories presented (or related) to the Tarnum's Saga (parts happening before Morglin's arrival).

I wish I could be wrong, but it will be probably one of those variants (with bigger possiblity of first one).
They should make at least one title in the HoMM fashion but heavy on the original mixture of fantasy and cyber sci-fi (and unexpected, since it's not immediately visible) both flavoured with quite a bit of comedy kitsch.

This aspect was abandoned, it seems. Unofficially, we had Gloryhammer instead :-p

No, it's "Older Era". Or was it "Elden Era"(tm) ?
"Eldritch Era" would be a real twist..

lupineshadow: Decrepit Era?
Can you imagine all the mysticism about tradition in fantasy and horror (but not limited to) reduced like that by recentism propaganda (...or just realism, sometimes)?

It would be a whole underwhelming talk about "rusted relics of lore", "All hail to the Geriatric God-Emperor", "witness the power of my outdated secret technique!!" and so.. :-D

Missed that reply earlier - of coursed totally agree, those parts were adding a flavour to the universe. And it's a real shame that this part of lore was never incorporated in the Heroes series (guess that whole hysteria around including Forge in Armageddon's Blade completely killed any plans in that aspect). What a shame.

I even had some time ago opportunity to talk a bit with my younger sibling (who basically played only Heroes 3) and when I told about origin of Kreegans, they were convinced that I'm either joking or I'm getting crazy.

"Oh, how naive are you, young pada.. I mean young childe. I am not a ghost, I'm the hologram of your brother. This is not a damn crystal, that's a lithium battery, you caveman. That's not a forge, it's a server with 3-D printer. And Kreegan devils, well, you know the Ori? No? The Antarans? The Annunaki at least?? Same guys, bad faction of course (according to me at least). How do I begin?" LOL
It's a twist that was innovative and is gaining popularity, and is somewhat more predictable in the 21st century than it was in the nineties. Many shows, especially long running ones, incorporate some grade of "great realms of lore were in fact space republics", or at least more silver spires than togas. All in all the whole fantasy genre is (or began as) a long lament about Roman Empire (which was both centuries-old and sci-fi to a shepherd in 9th century AD Scotland I suppose.
Also, think about the backstory bits added in One Piece in the last years. There were robots back then. The ones big baddies have have been reverse-engineered or at least inspired by excavated relics...just like some architectural "innovations" in 15th century were based on re-readings of forgotten latin manuals
