joelandsonja: I'm sorry, but I'm calling hypocrisy on this one. There are so many people who are upset about GOG's stance on selling this game, yet they think nothing of buying their slave made goods from China. Why is GOG expected to make some kind of political statement regarding this game when the general public has been supporting slave labour in China for decades. It makes zero sense.
Are you trying to make some sort of accusation against me personally? I don't support slave labor, I don't purchase goods made with slave labor, and I don't support oppressive Communist dictatorships that are doing to the Muslim Uyghurs exactly what the Nazis did to the Jewish population.

Your post is worded similarly to the old "When did you stop beating your wife" question. You can't answer yes or no, the implication is that you are guilty no matter what. While you personally may feel guilt over supporting slave labor, don't project your bad choices on to others. With that said, RELEASE DEVOTION, GOG.

Punksurce: If this game is not available on steam then why would it be here? Can some explain this to me?
Because GOG isn't steam and can sell games steam doesn't want to(and vice versa). So GOG could sell it...they just choose not to....likely to not get blocked from the china market.

these companies should be forced to decide between us or china, pandering to the two is clearly just results in pandering to china

They could have both easily....they could just sell the game, and if china blocks them in that country then chinese citizens could "move to the country of Vee-Phe-Ehn(sound that word out)" and buy their GOG games, then "move back home" a few minutes later. Then everyone wins and is happy.

SmashManiac: I have zero interest in buying or playing Devotion, but censoring a game because of politics is wrong. You might avoid a nation-state ban in the short term, but it will just make GOG more and more corrupt until its brand becomes irrelevant.

Please reverse this unethical decision immediately..

Thank you.

joelandsonja: I understand the sentiment with this statement, but wouldn't a national ban of GOG in China not only be bad for GOG, but also bad for the people of China? It seems to me that GOG actually did the right thing by not selling this game, because that's one less website that get's restricted in China. Why should the people of China have to suffer as a result of GOG's political protest?
Please pick up a history book and then think about the things you read in it for a while.

Why should people from other countries not be able to buy the game as a result of China's blackmail (which we don't even know if it was a thing)? Why should the devs (small taiwanese indie studio) not be able to sell something they put their hard work into because of one joke on a small in-game poster that they most likely removed by now? It's not a Dismantling Communist China Simulator ffs.

Arinielle: It returned to Steam? I haven't seen it return. It was spoken of them trying to but they also got into a lot of issues with having it for sale in the first place and not allowed to put it on sale again for some time.

entroumi: Nope. Maybe they confused it with Detention (game by the same developer)
Probably. I know that game is there. ....and been watching the series on Netflix.

When was the last time you read a history book? Be honest. I'm willing to be that your answer will be 'not since high school', so don't sit on your high-horse lecturing me about being educated on the subject, because you're not.

Its just like Pompeo said. China is the biggest threat the world has ever faced. Hope GOG changes their tune from these intimidation tactics.

Hey GOG, you received more than enough messages from gamers.

Release Devotion uncensored now.

I'm extremely uncomfortable with the fact that the Chinese state gets to decide what games I can and can't play, and that GOG is acting as their proxy in denying me access to a particular game. This is enough to make me not buy any more games from GOG. I don't want to take part in placating Chinese tyranny through my supporting those who back down from them within a matter of 15 minutes, all because the Chinese leader is a thin-skinned despot. It's insanity.

RedCandleGames deserves better. Devotion deserves better. I already own it on Steam, but I would have bought it again here if I were able to.

*Bumping so every user gets a chance to see this important news*

Also if anyone wants to vote for this game to return and tell GOG what they think in another location(besides this thread), here is the wishlist entry(currently at 5.8K votes):
