Hi, I know many people are having issues with GOG since the new design was introduced. The problem I'm having, however, may not be GOG exclusive. Any help will be appreciated!

So here's the problem. when I open the main page it looks like a bunch of huge icons and a few game images, all the design is gone, the menu bar looks weird and my user picture doesn't show on it. Here's attached an image, I zoomed out as much as the browser allowed me, so you can have an idea of what the website looks like, it goes on like that until the end of the page.

My games library also looks scrambled and I can't access my games nor see my collection it mostly shows my many custom tags several times and a bunch of text, no images and no links. My wishlist is the same mess. The forum works well and also the individual game pages (I can open these from the main GOG page, clicking on the images).

The site has been like this more or less since the last sale ended. I use Windows 7. The browser I use is Opera, it is updated to the latest version. I installed Google Chrome and GOG Galaxy and the problem persists on those.

The reason I think the problem may not be exclusive to GOG is because I've been having issues with other websites for months. Twitter also loads all scrambled (lucky I don't have an account there and rarely visit that page for some news or something, so I didn't mind about it) and on Youtube the user pictures in the comments section don't load, nor my user picture on the upper bar menu though I can click on the blank space and it works.

I have tried to fix this by myself for a while, but I give up. I hope you guys can help me. Thanks in advance!

I was wondering, did you try to install the Firefox browser? Since nothing else works for you, perhaps a native build of Firefox would.

You probably have already done so, but clearing your cache, history and cookies may help refresh the state of your browser. You also mentioned that youtube user pictures were blocked on one of your browsers. Personalized block/ad filters will do that (I should know. I've set up custom filters for my browsers to block a range of stuff that I simply don't like, but aren't ads).

You can do a massive reinstall of your browsers, and clear out all the associated stuff from your folders. These will be the Program files, Program data and Users folders section. And also the registry entries (but be careful. don't delete what you don't know). Like from Hkeycurrentuser/software and Hkeylocalmachine/software and wow6432node.

I just installed it and it has the same problem. Yes, I cleared all the history, cookies and all that in Opera. As for Google Chrome and Firefox, I just installed them this morning.

I've never used ad blockers or any custom filters in my browser. I'll keep that as a last resource, in case no one comes up with a simpler solution. Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I really appreciate it! :)

That seems more like a straight up resource loading failure.

Are you by chance using a VPN/something akin to Noscript?

Also i've tried sorting the games in the store by date (not date added) and apparently Hitman 2 is the OLDEST game here...

No, I've never used anything like that. Is there anything else that can cause resource loading failures, like the antivirus (I use Avira) or something? I'm confused, lol, was your post intended for another thread? :)

No. I was certain the topic was the GoG website after their recent changes, and i posted another issue i've noticed that's kinda stupid.

It might not be related to the css not loading, but it's still there.

Oh, I see. Yes, this new design has been quite messy.

In Firefox, load gog.com, and press F12 to open the developer tools. look under Network tab. You should see four css files loaded successfully. In fact, in my case, they come from cache. I expect that you do not have them in cache since it's failing to load and you just installed firefox? In that case, it should be trying to fetch these from network. What is the status code?

I expect one of these requests for the CSS to be failing on your end. Or they show a weird size. Perhaps you could paste a screenshot too? (Use filters or sort the requests by type so we see the CSS ones at the top)

Okay, that's way too little. Does more appear if you press F5 (refresh) while the network tab is open?

I'm very concerned about the lack of HTTPS. In fact, that alone could be breaking it for you. But what causes it? Malware?!

When you visit gog.com in firefox, you should see a little info icon (circled i), hopefully with a green padlock next to it, on the left side of the URL bar. (See sceenshot). Do you have a secure connection? Click the arrow on the right. Is it verified by DigiCert Inc? Can you click more info, and see what the identity & certificate looks like?

EDIT: Ah! Your new screenshot shows something: looking up www4-static101.gog.com. That's one of the domains that hosts one of the important css files. And I am guessing name resolution does not work. So this could be a DNS issue, though I can't exactly tell whether it's on your end or a configuration issue on GOG's end. You could try switching to a different DNS server.

Google hosts some public DNS servers at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 that you could test with.

But DNS isn't really secure by default so it's possible for malware, bad router, or ISP to interfere. It's also possible that the DNS is poorly managed and you're affected by a regional issue.

A while back i thought it might be nice if you could download a GoG resource zip or something, and then 95% of the images and CSS and other static information would be loaded locally rather than remotely, which i think would have been nice. Having an offshoot of www.gog.com to localstatic.gog.com or something which the pages than point to a fixed directory (say, c:\GoG Games\webstatic) would then keep some of this far simpler, as well as dropping bandwidth by like 80%.
