November 15 see the newest resurrection of Hellgate London on Steam (after dying, then failing as a free to play with microtransactions)

Would love to see this on GOG since there will be no MP servers...

IF the price is right...
IF Hanbitsoft don't infest the game with microtransactions... not confident about this one...

At least talk to 'em GOG?

Just bought a copy of the DVD off of eBay... if this turns out to be shit at least there is the SP Revival mods and London 2038...

I'm actually curious about how they intend to monetize this. It would be great if this was just a singleplayer experience, but I'm afraid it'll end up being a free to play mess, trying to copy even a small amount of Warframe's success. I don't know much about the Tokyo expansion, but I'd imagine it was a developed as a multiplayer experience.

I'm hoping for a flat price $20-$30 is probably fair - with no microtransactions...
Can see it going F2P with heavy reliance on cash shop unfortunately...

I mentioned Warframe, but the closer example would have been Path of Exile. I'd also prefer a flat price, at least that way there would be a snowball's chance in hell, it could end up on GOG. I guess we'll see in two weeks.

The one thing that holds out hope for a flat price/ minimal (hopefully) cashshop is that there are no MP servers at all... has there ever been f2P single player... OH WAIT... MOBILE GAMES... :/

Hope shattered? Oh well as I said... this goes shit I will enjoy SP revival and London 2038.. though would be nice to have access to all updated content and Tokyo expansion
I always thought it is some kind of online multiplayer game (mostly)?

I have never played the game, but I always loved its intro cinematic (or is that the trailer?):

Where have they mentioned that there will be no MP servers? I read the news on rockpapershotgun, and I don't remember seeing any mention of that.

With the support of many fans, developers have been able to offer the latest version of Hellgate: London game in the Steam.
Hellgate: London provides a single play environment with the latest version (Version 2.0) of the Hellgate: Tokyo service.
The game provides single play optimized scenario contents
and premium support items.

Steam storepage also lists single player only

That sound's bad.

I hadn't opened the steam page, but the steam tags aren't 100% accurate. I'm sure there will be singleplayer, but later they might add other tags.

Also, maybe this release will get an influx of modders, and they'll be able to extract the expansion to add it to the hellgate revival effort. I'm assuming that's the site you meant, when you mentioned by Revival SP, I haven't kept up with other Hellgate projects.

EDIT: I read through the RPS comments, and two people said "no MP, no interest"... that's why we can't have nice things.

Sounds like it will be full of paywalls and pay to win mechanics.

That is to say, I was not impressed by the original. The gameplay got dull quickly.

what idebehomebe said.
Hellgate: London was a great concept, but the execution was poor. Gameplay got repetitive and boring very quickly. And I HATED the Hub save system. I got tired of having to fight my way back to the point where I got killed.
ANd the boss monster fights were poorly done.
To be honest, I never played the Tokyo reboot, but understand it never solved the problems that gamaeplay is basically poor.
Yeah, it has some fans, but every game has a few fans.
And it wins the award for the most overyped game in history. The hype was leading people to expect the greatest game ever, and it turned out to be mediocre at best, and les then that a lot of the time.

The Marketing campaign was much better then the game, believe me. It has a well deserved rep as being a game that failed to live up to the hype.

Only managed to play this game as an engineer in single player. Want to try other builds. Would be nice to replay it, some weapons rare legendary and modding them was nice and then using them since it does use somekind of diablo system, but the final boss was rather unfair how easily he could kill me also the first time i was in a certain level and there were many big skeleton which were overpowered probably got killed too many times before i managed to continue, so kinda bad with the set level progression
Don't know really what tokyo adds though.

Also something was wrong with the game couldn't play it until i found alternative graphic drivers for ati radeon graphics those times when the game was released since it would always blue screen even with the last patch.

I really liked the lore and the story based trailers in this game.

But I don't think it will have a single player campaign, instead just a microtransaction multiplayer mess.
You are, of course, entitled to like what you like, but "Hellgate: London" is generally regarded as one of the most disappointing games in gaming history. It really disappointed a lot of people. There are reasons why it shut down after only a couple of years.

The basic idea for the game was really good, but the gameplay was poorly done..which ,of course, pretty much doomed the game.

The game was basically "Destiny 0.5" or to be more precise, it was a game made by ex Blizzard developers who basically wanted to remake Diablo as a FPS.
