Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice has been updated to include VR support on GOG.COM. Owners of the main game can find it as a separate entry in their library, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice VR.

Since its release, Hellblade has amassed an impressive amount of accolades and praise from players and critics alike. It's well deserved too - this is easily one of the most immersive, emotionally affecting games to come out in recent years. Now you have the chance to experience Senua's chilling journey in VR, provided you have the right equipment ( = nerves of steel and an HTC Vive or Oculus Rift kit).

KasperHviid: No, its two different builds, for whatever reason. But as I understand things, the optimization wasn't VR specific and was applied to the screen build as well.

MarkoH01: So either your assumption is wrong or the update for the screen build hasn't arrived at GOG yet. - latest build is still from 06/2017.
Oh? That's strange! I only saw that info in the voiceover, so, well, I dunno ...

Barry_Woodward: I own the main game and the VR version hasn't appeared in my library yet. I even tried to refresh my account (https://www.gog.com/user/refresh) to get the separate entry to pop.
It appeared in my account. So perhaps it just took some time. You might want to check again.
Bought! This one looks really epic. I wouldn't have thought that third person action-RPG could fit so well into VR. But I didn't get much of all that Norse mythology. Maybe I should read up on that before playing? Also, I really need to get some muscle memory into those combat controls.

Thank you GoG and the dev team behind the game. It'll be the first VR game I try from GoG. I'm not even sure on how to do it since I've grown comfortably used to steamvr auto launching with my Vive, but I'll try and see.

Thanks again!

Bigs: I suppose this is great for all of the 3 people that have a Vive or Rift... :P
But what about those that own PSVR and can utilize it on PC via Trinus? Raises that number quite a bit.
Wow...did GOG just make an Oasis reference?
Good old Games indeed :D

I am unsure if there are different VR techs out there, but at least I am wary of the VR solutions where you are basically putting a LED phone screen right in front of your eyes, for hours. There have been concerns that LED technology overall ("blue HEV light") may be harmful to eyes (macular degeneration), so I rather get some concrete confirmations that it is safe, before risking it.

I let the others be the guinea pigs for now, I'm fine playing games oldskool, even though I admit many types of 3D games would really benefit from VR goggles.

There's nothing RPG about it! Hellblade is an action adventure.

Waldschatten: By Oculus do they mean the actual device, or the "Oculus" features of Gear VR?

I have a Gear VR and am considering an OSVR HMD to tinker with, but they're going to need to streamline a commercial unit that isn't based on something I already own (such as my Note 8) to sell me a thousand dollar headset that isn't even a slim (like the portable movie theater headsets from years ago that were smaller than ski goggles and pretty light) AR/VR Hybrid device for both PC and Android use where I could see it as being worth shelling out four figures to purchase.
They mean Oculus Rift. I'm not sure where you're buying your hardware, but a complete Oculus Rift setup with HMD, sensors, and 2 touch controllers - everything but the computer - runs $399 on Amazon right now, and they often have deals where you can get it a bit cheaper than that.

IMHO, it's worth every penny. Your mileage may vary, but Oculus has completely changed gaming for me, and turned videogames from something I played a little here and there into my favorite hobby. I've had it for about 2 years now, and I'm just as excited about it now as I was when it was new. The games have only gotten better.

As far as your concerns about the HMD, it's lightweight and, for me at least, very comfortable. I regularly wear it for hours at a stretch before thinking about taking a break. Performance-wise, the portable Android-based or Oculus Go setups are nifty, but are vastly scaled down from what you can currently do with a full Rift setup. I don't consider them to even be the same category of product, at least not yet.

The mythology will be told to you step by step whenever you activate those runestones. Even after you listened to all of them sthe story will stay a bit uncflear but I am sure that this is intended. Regarding the combat: it's pretty easy after you experienced it a bit and you will have plenty of opportunitys do do so in the game. Imo the "puzzles" sometimes where the harder part of the game ... but I liked it a lot.
Respect.
Holy goat on a stick. I wanna marry this game!
Thank you very much for the free VR release on GOG for previous owners of the game! I know VR titles aren't a main staple on GOG, but I will certainly take what I can get and I'm glad I didn't have to double dip on Steam to get access to this upgrade.

I'm looking forward to trying it this weekend as they've apparently put some consideration for VR into the game since its early phases. I imagine that the consumer hardware wasn't quite there to fulfill their vision (since even the GTX 1080 series wasn't available when they started), but the newer cards can handle it.

I really wish GOG would consider pushing for DRM-free VR games (I understand that the population of those using VR is small). I spent about 99% of my games budget on Steam for VR the past two years; I would have rather been getting my games here.

For those who haven't tried VR yet, do find some place that gives demos and give it a try. Definitely demo the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, or Samsung Odyssey WMR headset. The right application can be immersive and mind-blowing, it's something that one cannot really describe -it has to be experienced.
Do I have to get the game for Steam to be able to use the Acer headset with it?
