Nervensaegen: I wish we had a reliable system that would tell parents what to expect, without having to purchase and try everything ourselves.
You can only rely on the judgement of people that finished the game.

As I've written above, this sales theme and selection of games does not match very well.

amok: Since when did any of gOg's themed sales make sense? They have always just made a theme, and then thrown som random games into it.
Yes, but calling something family friendly that clearly isn't is not just a sale's theme problem. It's just bad.

Oriza-Triznyák: off topic :

Speaking about being family friendly : Do we really need to have a big " Drug Dealer Simulator Celebration Sale " banner on the front page of the store ?
Good question
Another would be if some users really need to complain about how 'family unfriendly' gog is so much

A parent doesn't want their kids seeing nsfw content on the net?
They should put some effort in and set up a net filter

Catventurer: But no.... You had to ruin the discussion because now nobody is talking about cozy or family-friendly games or even the banner cats.
There's banner cats?
Gonna go check it out
Thanks for the mention

Banner Cats! Banner Cats! Banner Cats!

Seriously though, if you look at the page for this specific sale, the banner has a family of cats in the banner.

Pajama Sam games certainly would fit with this. But alas :P

To combine Family Friendly and Platformer, you might check out the legally freeware Speedy Blupi (and other Blupi games). They're ISOs here: https://blupi.org/

I have to say the spots on the middle kitten look odd to me, first giving me the impression of wierd AI artifacts. But thinking about it more it isn't unrealistic for spots, it just looks odd to me at first glance for some reason (maybe because the spots are only near lines). Maybe an additonal face spot would make it clearer what is going on or maybe it is just the color combination. Or quite possibly it is just me and it looks fine to everyone else.

GOG should make the cat face on the laptop their official logo :).

Thanks for this list!

I would put a small question mark at "Behind the Frame" as the content tends to work better with adults. But it's still a wonderful game.

Let me add to the list

* Steamworld Dig 1 and 2

My youngster loved both games and finished about half a dozen playthroughs in each. Even though they were challenging at first, the kid mastered the controls in due time, and had tons of fun.

He also enjoyed the Lego StarWars titles. However, the kid only ever replayed the first levels on endless repeat, since sooner or later, there was always a scene where the path forward was too frustrating to find.

And, obviously, all the Jump'n'Runs of our youth. From Commander Keen to Jack Jazz Rabbit. Can't go wrong with any of these.

The spots look fine. If anything looks odd, it's the middle cat that is stretched out - some of the coloring looks not right.

We are talking about the same thing. I didn't mean the tiny spots, I agree those look fine, but the larger patches of blue. It is ok once I look at it longer (blue patches from the blue parent) but looked off at first.

Ahhh to be honest all I can do here is assure you I painted this, color combination is not realistic for sure but I just wanted to keep this limited palette for the overall vibe and not exactly most realistic cat color. I do understand though that everything can be a little suspicious nowadays, which is sad. Once for the fun of it I put a photo of my room in one of these "is this ai" websites and it said is 92% likely to be AI. I'm literally living in this place! How to trust anyone when I even my own room is untrustworthy? ;D

It isn't about trust. Consider it concern for the employment of yourself and the other members of the art team.

I'm not actually bothered by the robots artists for the most part as I've been playing with one of them the last few days to quite literally draw every single deity of the Forgotten Realms just for funzies because I can. A human would look at the fact that there's well over 500 of them and rightly say that there's way too many of them to even attempt such a thing, whereas the AI drawing Garyx for me as I type this. They're great for silly projects that are just too ridiculous to even ask a human to do it.

I see only a single real issue (attached).

It's unfrotunately not included in either this nor the Platformer Sale, but I'd recommend Timberman. It's a very nice, fun platformer. Good, colourful and clear pixel graphics, smooth controls, well designed levels. It's nothing special perhaps, but for what it wants to be it's really very well done.
First, KosmicznaPluskwa posted a 1920x1080 version in the other thread so I wanted to make sure anyone only looking at this thread doesn't miss out. I like the mostly empty space, it makes the kitty corner cozy :).

It isn't the color itself but the way that the blue patches are limited area, only near the dark lines that are closer to dark lines on the neigboring blue cats (who have more of the darker lines), and the posture. There is enough of the light fur color that my brain at first look perceives the kitten to be solid light color (with a more flat posture) and the blue somehow "tacked on" in an unnatural way (particularly the upper patch, the lower patch might look like a shadow). I have similar perceptions not that infrequently with photographs, not exactly the same thing but I just saw one a few days ago. Maybe calling it an optical illusion would have been better. I am glad to hear you made it, it is perfect for the theme other than this one issue for me that hopefully not too many other people will see (the kitten having both colors is a nice touch once I perceive it correctly).
I wonder if the People who invented this sale already settled up their own families..... ; ) Some unsuitable games like Moon Hunters or Hello Neighbour..... Some missing games too.... Yet... Discounts are disco.
