I thought this was a little funny and I hope you do too.

A while back, I went and ordered a movie off of Amazon along with a few gifts for some other people. The gifts turn out fine, but the DVD's case is crushed and the disk is just floating in the packaging. I think to myself "what are the odds of that happening?" as I order the replacement.

That should have been the red flag... but my network adaptor was crapping out and a suitable replacement was available as a Gold Box deal. And I ordered another movie. This movie also arrived with a broken case with the disk floating around. Off to get another replacement.

And today, that first replacement arrived. It came complete with plastic shrapnel. Yay! :P

From what a couple of American acquaintances told me their postal service is really bad. It made me appreciate ours more.

Yeah, they tend to do a good ( and frequently underpaid ) job here. The main reason for damaged goods is usually bad packaging, and that's rarely a problem with Amazon ( at least here in Germany ).

There may be fault with delivery service.
Never had any major trouble with Amazon.
During Christmas I received a Star Trek t-shirt as gift from US.
I live in small place and gift had to pass custom (Even got a call from them to verify my documents).
When gift arrived the box packing was loose and the air bags inside were punctured.
But pack inside was in good condition.
Overall it was a good experience although I had to visit near by city to pick up my parcel as no delivery guy was available.

Well if you think your postal services are bad, consider ours.
I was expecting my ordination papers from Dudeism central. They came in an enveloped marked clearly and with huge bold red letters "FRAGILE - DO NOT BEND!". Guess what the postman did. He couldn't fit the envelop in the mailing box so... bent it in half. Papers cringed beyond repair. Yay for ignorant illiterate civil servant fuckers! Go postal service! Yay!
By the way, when you order something from Amazon and it arrives damaged it's almost never Amazon's fault. And they're always glad to send a replacement, no questions asked, even when it isn't their fault. FFS, one time I had a package gone missing, and they just sent me another one. No questions asked. They only asked politely that if the original package ever arrived, I should return it to them and they would also pay the postage cost for that. It did eventually arrive and I did return it to them and they did cover the cost.

reads like your postman hates you? :D - Or maybe some highschoolers having a part time job in a distribution center/package sorting center having fun throwing around stuff - i know some sad stories (older than 10 years though ^^) that ya at a distribution center in my area part timers actually thought it was fun throwing around fragile looking UNINSURED (so no investigation) packages

It's why I'm always happy to order from Amazon, they will bend over backwards to sort out problems.
Even if it was from a seller rather than Amazon itself you should get in touch and request a refund or replacement.

Never had this kind of issues with Amazon and the carriers the company use for Italy. You should contact Amazon's support and explain the situation, because it surely isn't normal.

Or someone there really doesn't like that movie lol.

Amazon in the UK used to be a nightmare thanks to one of their courier services (think it was yodel). Parcels could end up a mess but thankfully thats a thing of the past.

The only issue I've had with them was from their inhouse courier who for some reason or other cancelled delivery at around 2pm. They give no info but any idiot with a sat-nav will get the layby outside my door since that is the point they use for the postcode. Generally satnavs don't do well in the countryside for finding specific houses.

Stuff sent by regular post has always turned up and my postie knows if I'm out to leave a note and pop parcels in the greenhouse if they can't fit the mailbox. City posties can be a bit limited with where they can leave things but rural ones don't mind bending the regs if they've got the home owners permission.

When my vive was being delivered the DHL guy phoned to make sure I was in after seeing the insurance cost for it.

Worst delivery has to be UPS who were delivering something that went from Glasgow depot up to the one at Dundee only to have them not deliver to Perth area on fridays because it's apparently too remote. For folk not familiar with scottish cities, Perth sits by the A9 which is the road that runs between Glasgow and Dundee and is about an hours drive away. Needless to say I got in touch and told them as politely as I could how moronically poor an excuse that was.

This one's reliable.

Considering how companies work here in Spain (and I guess it's not that different in Greece, being sort of "cousins" :-D), this never ceases to amaze me.

Many years ago, when there was only amazon.com in USA, a friend of mine ordered a very expensive textbook from them. It was about 60 euros + shipping, in a time where euros didn't even exist. That is to say it was really expensive at that time. It arrived in perfect condition except for a slightly torn corner of the cover. My friend just sent them an e-mail as feedback, not complaining or asking for a replacement, just saying "service was good, only a minor problem with the book cover", and their answer was sending another copy, totally unsolicited, and not even bothering to request the original to be sent back.

We just couldn't believe it. The amount of hassle we would have had to go through with a typical Spanish company for a book that expensive, or simply any other cheap book or whatever... And probably they would just screw us in the end.

It was an eye-opener to the "civilized" world :-D
