Hi GoG,

I'm glad you made the decision NOT to sell the racist, misogynistic game "Hatred" on your store! You made a smart decision based on your company ideals, and everyone knows that only the government is capable of censorship anyway.

Now that you've shown you're capable of doing the right thing, there's another game on your store that I have a bone to pick with. "The Witcher 3" contains nudity, incredibly graphic violence, and even racism. I find it to be completely morally repugnant, and would appreciate if it were removed immediately like you are refusing to sell Hatred.

I think in current game industry situation people should just go back to pirating everything and then somehow sending money directly to developer/publisher according to how much they are satisfied with the product.
Torrent = no censorship, no bullshit, DRM free, (fair pricing), what else would legit customer want.

Judging from StorkV88's post on the last page, the developers hadn't decided whether they even wanted to release on GOG seven weeks prior to release (and possibly even less), when even the Desura deal was struck already.

So now, because the developers are suddenly farting aggressive facebook posts in GOG's general direction, GOG is supposed to jump after Hatred as if they're desperate.

Maybe the lack of a GOG release is as simple as that: The Hatred developers rejected GOG first.

Minor point, because it does not make much sense. Is not Destructive Creations self publishing - i.e. the developer and the publisher is the same. Or did I miss something?

GOG (like Steam) provides publishing services to generate revenue, so I always consider them publishers (as they do themselves).

Okay maybe I am getting old here but it seems people are throwing around words to back up arguments in complete lack of understanding of their meanings as I am aware of them, now yes definitions change so can someone please explain to me how GOG is committing censorship by not selling the game?

Last I checked Censorship is: the practice of officially examining books, movies, etc., and suppressing unacceptable parts.

In other words: To "censor" is to review something and to choose to remove or hide parts of it that are considered unacceptable. Censorship is the name for the process or idea of keeping things like obscene word or graphic images from an audience. There is also such a thing as self-censorship, which is when you refrain from saying certain things — or possibly re-wording them — depending on who is listening.

So how is a store not deciding to sell something that is seen as controversial as censorship? Provided GOG denied the game based on content. They are a store, stores are free to sell or not sell any item they choose. Yeah you can use the book banning arguement but that's not censorship per say, that's suppression and banning now if they make it available and take out offensive content then yes that's censorship.

It's the same as people saying Galaxy is Alpha under the label of Beta and was rushed out for the Witcher 3 and it's not truly optional. That also confuses me since last I checked Beta software was defined as: A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to try under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through alpha testing often inhouse and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function to the final product; however, design changes often occur as a result. Software in the beta phase will generally have many more bugs in it than completed software, as well as speed/performance issues and may still cause crashes or data loss. The focus of beta testing is reducing impacts to users, often incorporating usability testing.

As for rushed It's defined as: done or completed too hurriedly; hasty.

So as far as I am aware the client in it's current state does fit that definition of Beta and since it wasn't claimed to be the final release version I can't see how it could be rushed. As for optional your not forced to use it for anything outside of games that use it's API for multiplayer functions and that is only if you want to play multiplayer. That sounds pretty optional to me.

Again, maybe the definitions changed and I am unaware but as it stands I don't see any "Censorship" happening here as it applies to Hatred since you can get it elsewhere, limiting your options sure but censorship? really? same with the other things I mentioned.
