KasperHviid: The post I critizised only said that he had heard some rumor. Which is why I tracked down the source:

"Hatred" is a genocide simulator developed by Neo-Nazis
avatar
Arteveld: So if someone writes they're nazis, that makes them nazis? That's absurd.
Tjeck the link again. The screenshot of the CEO / animators Facebook profile speaks for itself.

realkman666: Semantics are never pointless. They are the essence of meaning and understanding. As long as you don't try to block the existence of something because it makes you feel uncomfortable, I have no problem with your sentiment.
avatar
jefequeso: Did I ever imply I wanted to "block the existence of something because it makes you feel uncomfortable?"
No. I was separating you from those who oppose the game.
avatar
CthuluIsSpy: Is "non-hostile npc" a more accurate term then?
avatar
amok: am I allowed to be disgusted by the idea of murdering non-existent non-hostile npc's in a game?
Wouldn't that make you slightly insane?
avatar
KasperHviid: ...speaks for itself.
Sounds like what a fascist would say.

monkeydelarge: It's not a pointless semantics argument. And the reason people like me jump all over you is because we are sick and tired of being seen as people with no empathy or violent psychopaths. We are sick and tired of being watched by our neighbors and old people like we are dangerous. We are sick and tired of people thinking, "Oh no, he plays killerspiele, it's only a matter of time before he goes on a rampage!" We are sick and tired of people trying to make it so buying the games we want will be insanely difficult.

And not only do I find your way of seeing this game to be out of touch with reality, I also find that your position helps demonize gamers like me.
avatar
jefequeso: I apologize for being disgusted by something.

I wonder why people accuse you of lacking empathy...
If innocent civilians are really being murdered in these games(that is why you are disgusted), then that would make those of us who enjoy these games, monsters, right? Do you think we are monsters?
avatar
Yummlick: To all people arguing that "it's just a game" and "these are not real people":

By your "logic" it would be OK to make and distribute games where you're playing as a child rapist or some nazi death camp manager. Because "Hey! It's not real and I'm enjoying playing this! What's your problem with me having some fun?".
Yes, and some of these games would be highly unpleasant indeed.

No, I'm disgusted by the IDEA of it, and by seeing it rendered in a (mostly) realistic fashion.

Why is this so hard to understand?

Okay ... if we look at the screenshot we will see that the CEO/Animator in question has 'liked' an local extremist group and the image behind his profile pic, the image that signal what he stands for to the entire world, is a photo of real human skulls originating from a real-life genocide.

I intepretate this as "the guy is *very fucking likely* to be an extremist", Which is why I say that "The screenshot of the CEO / animators Facebook profile speaks for itself."

Your interpretation clearly differs from my own. I'm just dying to hear it!

I don't think that picture says what You think it does. Perhaps You'd want to read on the topic before delivering a sentence, especially one such as this.
Really people? Hollywood produces and promotes worse movies. Hatred looks like a blast to play, in more ways than one.

I am so confused.... WHAT AM I ALLOWED TO FEEL!

Am I allowed to feel frustrated now?

I am just a bit unsure about feeling anything toward random animated 3D models without characterization in a video game. It's something I struggle to understand.

You make it sound like people are turned off by Super Hexagon...

Well who isn't disgusted by the idea of innocent civilians being murdered. We are disgusted by such an idea because we find it horrible when people do not die of old age, when people suffer from the loss of loved ones and when people are in pain. But in a game, there is no death and there is no suffering. The two things that make us humans look down on violence do not exist in games. So all that remains is a piece of art that can be played and provide people with hours of fun. I still don't understand how you can find a game disgusting on that level. Maybe your brain can't separate the two. And there is nothing wrong with that. Not all of our brains, work the same way. For example, my brain can't handle math beyond Highschool level. But please don't judge those of who enjoy games like Hatred. Our brains aren't wired like yours.

Perhaps, I must admit I'm not entirely sure about that one. But even if we ignore this one, that doesn't change the fact that the guy supports the anti-muslim hate group Polska Liga Obrony (Polish Defence League).
This game would replace coffee for me in the morning.

You'd have to be pretty blind to ignore the evils of Islam in this world.
