jefequeso: Using someone's real life battle with cancer as weapon in a stupid forum war is probably one of the lowest things I've seen on this site.

Tracido: I've had death threats for defending this game, so pardon me if the politeness walked out the door a while ago.
It's not "politeness," it's being a normal empathetic human being. There's a big difference between saying "I hope you die" and saying "go back to your real life deadly disease." That's beyond the pale. That's Encyclopedia Dramatica shit.

CarrionCrow: GOG doesn't owe you or any of the other 3,500 people an explanation.
They're under no obligation to divulge their standards, thoughts or reasoning publicly.
Some people might think that GOG owes them that, but they don't.
No one here is an actual part of the business infrastructure that makes decisions at GOG.
It's not any customer's call to make.

If anyone here is that unhappy with it, buy it elsewhere. Don't buy from GOG anymore. Send staff an email to have your account deleted in protest.

But that's not going to happen, though.

Licurg: GOG's running a business, and they're supposed to cater to their customers, especially the loyal ones . Doing things like this is how most companies end up bankrupt .
There are other factors, but the complacency is concerning.

Isn't that basically their mission statement, though? "Do things that would make other companies go bankrupt?"

And I mean that in a good and bad way.

From TinyE ?

Else, you have no point.

No company ever went bankrupt from selling DRM-free games .

Not yet, anyway. Give DotEmu a couple of months, I'm sure they'll accomplish that feat.

No, but I'm pretty sure that conventional wisdom discourages faking your own demise to drum up interest -_-

And correct me if I'm wrong, but DRM-free wasn't really a mainstream thing when GOG started, and I'm sure conventional wisdom at the time would have discouraged selling digital games without any form of copy protection.

My point is that GOG seems to be run by MENSA-level gibbons. Sometimes their decisions are flashes of genius, sometimes they seem like the byproduct of hooting and flinging poo. And that's why we love them.

Yeah, but they will jump on some obscure title that got refused, to defend it, then assume along with buddies about you, then get butthurt when you give them a taste back. Don't worry.

Then they go bankrupt. Still doesn't mean they automatically owe that response to people.
Cheer up, Licurg, we can always buy it elsewhere.

I wouldn't be so sure. DotEmu still occasionally pulls out nice tricks. After all, they've been in business since 2007. Or take Gamersgate: it should have died a long time, but it's still active.

Is that supposed to be English? Is that supposed to mean anything?

DCT: Lmao, hey I know absolutly nothing of this guy but since he agrees with me so obviously he is well informed and a intellectual.

Ah man sunshine, if you weren't such a fine example of what is wrong with the internet today like insulting tinyE with that cancer comment, I would find you the funniest thing I have seen since this cat named Sybil back when E-fedding was still a thing, oh man he was a riot and also that one guy who freaked out and started crying about how this one mod I knew wouldn't let him delete his account and how he was keeping him a prisoner. ah good times..

Tracido: All of you remind why I feel glad, because this is how stupid you elitists are https://youtu.be/gHywzQon6tc and hope for more in your lives to wake you up.
So let me get this straight. You get pissed off when people don't agree with you, you insult them, resort to childish name calling, insults, ect. call them elitsts, ect.

And yet it seems you are wondering why no one respects anything you have to say..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FopyRHHlt3M

Oh and making that cancer comment and then talking about how you received death threats like your some saint or somehow better then those assholes who made those threats. I don't agree with death threats, doxing and so on but man truthfully you are no better then any of them.

Sure on the scum scale they rank a bit higher but that's like saying you may have did a bombing or two but at least your not a pedo

To be fair isn't that all companies? granted some are more prone to stupid shit then others but I still stand by my statement.

I honestly don't understand it. how are they making money? Who buys games there? Their forums are completely deserted, they barely release new games, and the don't offer anything particularly interesting you couldn't get somewhere else.
A few years ago they had some nice stuff: VtM. Bloodlines (pulled, never been on GOG.com), Alien vs. Predator (on GOG.com, with Galaxy support), German version of the Gothic series (on GOG.com now, with more extras), the Sega games (all pulled now).

I just can't imagine that they get a lot of sales each month. If any.
Personally I have downloaded every game I bought there, because I think they could close shop any moment.

DCT: sounds about right. take away the "controversial" nature of the subject matter and you get a bland medicore shooter and to think this is what people were getting all worked up over not being sold here? god damn the way people were acting over it you think it was the next Dues ex..

Licurg: I'm gonna ignore how Deus Ex is overrated, and how you misspelled it .

The reason people are getting all worked up over this is because over 3500 people voted for this, and GOG refused it without a single logical reason, and without bothering to give any explanation . Everything that was mentioned as a potential reason for not selling it is moronic, the "curated store" excuse being the most idiotic - if GOG ever, at any point, had any kind of standards for what they sell, Kingdom: The Far Reaches would never have made it here, just to point out one example .
you do realize that this developer is polish and has political connections? these things I was unaware of until finding out about it in one of these threads.

Shocking, I know. Who doesn't have political connections again?

Who doesn't have an agenda?

Who doesn't handpick words to make a case instead of ever looking at the whole picture?
