Sewers are really fun in Vampire Bloodlines.
aren't most fantasy-themed dungeons rather sewer -like anyway?

No its mostly fortress looking like Daggerfall.
I would say the mind flayer/illithid sewer in baldurs gate is my favorite. a great dungeon and one of the rare cases where it wouldn't have been better to replace the sewer with something else.

other than that i really liked the sewer levels in RAGE. since they were a great diversion and nice little self contained (and optional!) dungeons.

maybe Ultima Underground, Arx Fatalis. but then again that feels like cheating. since they don't really have sewer levels, they are sewers.

i'd like to give a honorable mention to the first quest in Vertigo in MM4/5 (maybe my favorite starting area in one of my favorite games). slugging across town and searching all the rubbish heaps to exterminate all the pests always felt like a sewer level to me, just without the sewer. but maybe that is just me.

MM 4/5 actually had lots of sewers in them. Each city on Darkside had sewers and they had all kinds of creepy inhabitants...

MM 6 had spacious sewers under Free Haven, but full of thieves who could steal your stuff. MM 7 had sewers in Erathia, it wasn't pleasant place either.

EverQuest II had quite convoluted sewers in Qeynos. I got lost there several times but I refused to use map addon.

Final Fantasy XII had sewers. They were fine at first, until I used some lever and went exploring new passages and then I had to run away from monsters who were 20 levels above me. And FF XII even had fallen god in sewers (deity of filth himself).

Batman: Arkham Asylum - if you count Killer Crocs Lair as a "sewer level" - which I do.
Ultima Underworld 2? The first few levels consist of the sewers under the castle, although in their case (and in keeping with the lore of the setting) the sewer tunnels proper are mingled with a natural cavern system. They certainly weren't the highlight of the game, design or appearance-wise, but they didn't have anything obnoxious about them either (unlike in pretty much every other game).

vicklemos: Silent Hill 1 on the psone. Great sewer level!
Indeed. Not my favourite part of the game but still a good and memorable sequence. Silent Hill 3's was also decent as I recall.
I've seen people mentioning Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines and I sorta feel the need to ask...which sewer level? It had three!

The main quest one is eh...very drawn out, or so it seemed during my first playthrough. It's probably my least favorite mission and area in the game, but I enjoy parts of it. The last part of it loses its mystique when you realize that you can just sprint through it (which is what I do now).

The side quest regarding the Childer of a Baron is fun. It's maybe ten minutes long (if that) but it's a neat action romp against the vampire hunters, and one of the few (maybe one of four?) parts of the game where you have a combat ally.

The side quest regarding the plague is great. Just wandering through the sewers until you get to THAT area really builds the tension. It's a fun fight against a fairly memorable enemy. Plus it got me legitimately sad for a minute when I thought I saw a certain security guard.

Indeed it was. A bit messy, as I recall. And those creatures (green ones?) were effing scary :)
I can't believe Sewer Surfin' from TMNT IV: Turtles in Time hasn't been mentioned yet.

Ah, right you are. I meant the long, labyrinthine maze where you're looking for a key card to open a hatch, and the tedious slog up to that point while dealing with a bunch of those weird armless monsters.

People just don't build their sewers with adventure in mind these days,

The boss in that level had the funniest statement:
"First the sewers, then the world!!!" XD

I wasn't too crazy about that level though, but it was ok. All in all a pretty easy game, at least when compared to the ridiculous difficulty of the tmnt games on the nes. I consider my finest gaming achievement to be me beating tmnt 3's shredder with 0 turtle lives left...

Have you tried the arcade version?
After having finished the SNES version of "Turles in Time" about a dozen times, I tried the arcade version on the easiest setting one day and was seriously shell shocked. It's ridiculously hard (like most arcade games though) but it has some assets that were removed from the SNES version and a slightly higher resolution.

I didn't like the sewers much in this one though, but I don't like automatic movement anyway.
