boztix: Has future gog ??
Stop worrying about it, worrying doesn't help. Live every day thankful for having GOG around, buying and playing games from them.

If and when GOG is no more, cherish the memory of GOG, remembering all the joyful days you had together. Compose a song for the memory of GOG and publish it on Youtube.

boztix: -Steam has drm free games that are not added to gog when it would be very easy (eg shenmue)
Oh, about that: Shenmue doesn't seem to be DRM-free. At the moment it seems quite easy to crack, though.

Last but not least, Steam will cease to exist as well, when Windows Store has taken over the whole Windows gaming digital business. That is why Valve has been looking for promoting Linux gaming, as a plan B if and when Windows Store makes Steam (and GOG, and Origin, and UPlay...) irrelevant. Origin and UPlay seem to think though that in the future all their games will be streamed so there is no need for digital download services/stores (like Steam or GOG) anymore, at least for their games. And that their streamed games would be platform-independent, maybe playing them through any browser or on your Smart-TV.

There's the future for you, without Steam.

nightcraw1er.488: More and more games here are being released internet heavy. Whilst some will scream blue in the face that it's not drm, if gwent servers turn off right now that game is gone. So effectively the same thing.
Add to that there only seems to be drivel released here most of the time, and the few things worth buying are so much more expensive than elsewhere, I don't see how they can continue for much longer. They either continue with the "we want be steam" and accept either drm or always online which seems most likely with their whole galaxy thing. Or they drop that and go back to what they once were which is unlikely to happen.
So expect to see more and more cloud and galaxy reliance to the point where the vast majority don't even know how to run something without a client, and then they will switch off classic installers completely. Possibly coinciding with cyberpunk release.
My day so far:
- Wakes up and open the curtains to see it's a beautiful sunny day.
- Happily logs-in to GOG to check on the latest news.
- Reads nightcrawler.488's post...

"Oh god, whats the point. Abandon all hope! The end is nigh!!"

Gee, thanks ;)

A few years ago people where saying GOG wont last 2 years or will stay this niche little site on the end of the internet.

Fast forward today and it became one of the big players on the market and even Steam had to acknowledge it a few times (like when suddenly they started to have old games sold on there service or presented a refund option after GOG introduced theres).

Like in every business, they just need time and not give up.

You might want to invest in some anti-depressants then for the rest of you dayr, assuming you have to go to work, feed some screaming mouths, collapse at the end of the day as your aged body is failing. Or maybe your lucky and are still young... :op
We are the Chosen Ones. We saw the Light in the Darkness. Forgive your old god and your fake messiah.

Alas, on the young to aged body failing scale, I'm closer to the latter than the former!
As long as CDP is around GOG will be around, it's a great way to maintain your 30% cut you'd lose selling elsewhere, and CDP sells enough for that to be worth it.Even more so if they're going to add more games with MT's

-Hey Dave, do you think GOG will always be here?

-Of course! What do you mean?

-Well, I mean, do you think it's ever going to die, go away, vanish?

-No! It's always going to be here! We're always going to be here! Don't be silly!

-Yeah, you're right! Neither us nor GOG is going anywhere! I'm just being paranoid!
Hey.....did you just hear something?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Maighstir: Or we can just answer the question as-is.

Yes, future has GOG.
I think as-is is in fact the intended way of reading it. I think our OP is related to Yoda.
Has future Gog?

Future, Gog has. If variety of new and old titles it brings to public. Learn the ways of discounts and sales it must and great gaming site become it shall.
Oh, come on, Edna, we both know these children have no future

boztix: Has future gog attained consciousness and wiped out humankind??

SirPrimalform: You've missed a word out between "gog" and "??"!
FTFY with more than a word :). Unfortunately we can't know unless they decide to send a GOGBear terminator back in time :D.
