Matewis: I don't know how many years it's been by now, but every single time I read the game title I first mistake it for this.

Tarm: I love that game! Blasting aliens to smithereens with a shotgun have never been as fun! :D
* while hiding in the shadows! That was always so funny : me and an orc facing each other but neither able to shoot because for some reason standing in the shadows makes you bulletproof :P

The game has an awesome vibe as well. Sort of a like an 80s fantasy b-movie with techno-rock music

nightcraw1er.488: I have no knowledge of any of that, I have zero interest in "review scores" or "company hardships" or "online petitions". All I know is that I tried to play the game twice, once with mods, once without. In both instances I found the game to be one of, if not the worst game I have ever played. One day I might play it on console, but for me the PC version doesn't exist. And yes, I can't see how there is so much support for it?
The issue for me is that I had more technical problems with games like Skyrim and Fallout 3+ than with Dark Souls.
So in my mind if people can forgive the issues in these games why not in others like Dark Souls ?
And it seems that most PC gamers did exactly that, giving Dark Souls a positive score.

Personally speaking my biggest technical priority in a game is 'the game not crashing'. I can live with frame-drops here and there, but not frequent game crashes and quests bugging out, to me that's far worse than anything else. I did not have the latter problems with Dark Souls.

What games get accepted in the gaming world despite their perceived problems is rather arbitrary, there's no rule to it. The only guide you have is gaming media; if they consider the game good despite its problems the majority of gamers tend to agree with it, as their review scores would imply. Dark Souls happened to be one of these games, it could just as easily have swung the other way though.
I'm not justifying this culture, just pointing out what I see. I would prefer more consistency myself: if people are hard on one game they should be equally hard on others, and if they are lenient towards one game they should be equally lenient towards others.

Well, I have played Skyrim all the way, through admittedly with a ton of mods, and had no crashes, or any other problems with it, this is of course not the vanilla so maybe patched out. The thing with Elder Scrolls is that you know you are only going to get the engine, this is the same with Oblivion, its up to modders to provide the game. Fallout3 again played it through twice, the GOTY edition, not a single crash. The engine was ok, the systems within the game were a mixed bunch, VATS for instance is rubbish - I mean just use a M&K! In fact I play a lot of games across most platforms, and I still believe this is one of the worst games I have seen since pre-spectrum days. As I mentioned, I care nothing what the industry thinks, or about scores or other form of media states, what I saw with my own eyes was a dreadful port. No amount of yellow stars, or XX.X % scores is going to tell me any different.

Ricky_Bobby: Why on earth did you buy a PS4 when your priority is framerates and loading times ?

To answer your question, the loading times are still quite long compared to your average PC game.

The fps is the same as before.
Because my priority is playing good games that aren't on PC like Persona 5, but if it runs like shit I'm gonna spend my money elsewhere, and buy it only when it's heavily discounted.
avatar
Cyraxpt: Loadings are faster, can't say exactly but let's say that it was 50s before and now is something like 30s;
avatar
Elenarie: LOL
"Lol" because i'm wrong or "lol" because the loading times are ridiculous high?

It certainly does not run like shit, it could be better, sure, but it's still playable otherwise you wouldn't see people praising it. If i remember correctly, it was around $30 during the Christmas sale so i could see it appearing at that price again (or cheaper) in the near future.

Thanks, I think I'll wait a bit though. The regional prices on console are nothing like the ones on PC here, Dragon's Dogma is coming out for 30 dollars as well, yet in my region it will cost half as much as Bloodborne does on console. I think I'll stick with that one and wait for June to get Bloodborne after all.

Oh yes. It oozes that atmosphere. :)
Tarantino should make a film out of it. Or Boll come to think of it. That should be really entertaining.

Second one. Ive heard it was bad, but I didn't know it was THAT bad.

Oh, The Witcher 3 also had some really terrible loadings and from what i've heard, Just Cause 3 is worse.
Nekro time. I just finished the game NG, NG+ and Platinum Trophy, about 80 hours of play all up, with the latest 1.9 patch which only came out last month. So I feel at least decently qualified to comment on any game issues. Frames rates were fine for me, if they dropped at any time then I didn't notice.

It had absolutely no glitches or freezes.

Latest patch removes some of the co-op restriction if you want to co-op with friends using codes. The match making for random co-op summoning is still restricted to within 10 levels I think, but after boss fights I never had any trouble immediately getting summoned by others to co-op bosses for some extra insight and blood echoes.

Load times are still on the slow side- usually about 20 - 25 seconds. But remember the game world is continuous and you never see a load screen unless you want to go back to the Hunters Dream to buy stuff, or fast travel...or you die. So just don't die, easy fix!

It's an awesome game, if you have a PS4 and know that you like the Souls games, and if the price is right for you, then it's a no brainer.
"Has Bloodborne's technical issues been fixed?"
"No, It was never released on GOG. If that's what you are asking."

I went ahead and bought this mid April, got Platinum too, only second game ever that I did that, surprised with how reasonable the trophy demands were. Which build did you go with? I did NG and NG+ on pure dex Blades of Mercy/Rakuyo, and one NG on quality build with Ludwig's Holy Blade, have to say that I much preferred the dex build.

On topic though, I have to disagree with you, the loading times were a bit on the long side, yet didn't bother me much, framerate on the other hand is absolutely awful.

It struggles to even reach thirty, and I could feel it drop every time I swinged the camera around. Every once in a while I would think "there's something strange going on with the game", then I'd realize what it was, the fps was steady for a full 30 seconds. It broke my heart, the game working as it's meant to should be the default, not a reason to be surprised.

As you may have guessed by me finishing the game three times in a month and a half, I love it, it's the best game on PS4 and most definitely good enough to excuse its technical shortcomings. But excuse, sadly, is not the same as ignore, as I think that would be fairly difficult to do for most people.

I must have a very easy tolerance on frames rate then, because I really didn't notice anything. I checked the patch notes to check if any improvements were made and was surprised that it is older than I thought, for some reason my PS4 only decided to apply the update in May- one week before I decided to play it. That's why I thought it was a new patch.

As for build, to me the arcane side of things seemed really underwhelming at a glance, so I went Strength and Skill heavy and used Ludwig's for most general play and Hunters Axe 2 handed for most bosses (awesome charge attack). Toughest part for my build was the Defiled Chalice, because I did not develop my health score very much- fighting them defiled bosses with half an already low health bar was nasty.

nightcraw1er.488: If you have ever played dark souls on the pc you will think that is a bonus.
Ssstill can't quite believe you passed up Dark Souls due to technical bullshit, sir.
I mean, hell, the bastard crashes my entire OS on occasion and I still play it. ;p
