In a few days they`ll show "Ace Attorney", the Phoenix Wright movie on TV. I`m not sure if I shall watch it, it comes very late in the night, so I decided to ask if somebody has seen it and knows if it`s a good or a bad movie.

I'll say average to good, depending on your taste. If you're heavily invested in the games, then you may be slightly disappointed some sillier aspects don't translate easily to the film. But if you're not, then you might enjoy the criminal aspects and mystery more.
It's ok. If you are fan of the games some aspects may be cool but for most part its just the first game in movie form. Its not must watch type of thing but I would say its one of better video game adaptations out there.
For me it was something I had to see since its Takashi Miike flick with Narimiya in main role.

Well, I don`t know those names. Are they very famous in Japan?

Takashi Miike is a pretty well known director, even outside of Japan. Most people probably know him from his very violent, twisted and weird films, such as Ichi the Killer, Audition or Visitor Q, but he's made practically every kind of movie there is, from mainstream J-horror such as One Missed Call, to straight-up kids films like Yatterman or The Great Yokai War. He's very prolific.

And his Phoenix Wright adaptation is really good, too. It's not quite as wacky as the games and as such adds a good deal more drama, but it does a great job nevertheless.

Takashi Miike has a lot of films under his belt and most of them are well-known for their shock value, scenes of extreme violence and sexual perversions. But you got to ask yourself why do you want to watch Ace Attorney in the first place...

Anyway, can't you record it or something if it's too late?

No, I have no videorecorder. Hm, maybe the broadcaster has it online a few days after they broadcasted it, but those streams are usually a bit stuttering, low framerate.
I never watched it, but Takashi Miike did another videogame adaptation, based on Sega's first Yakuza game.

I hate that movie. I literally hate it more than any other movie I've ever watched, let alone forced myself to watch until the end. It was just 90min long, but it must have taken twice as long for me to finish it, because I would constantly have to pause it and walk around the house just to cool off.

I hear the Phoenix Wright movie is actually pretty decent, but after my last experience I will never watch another movie of his again.
