I'd say Apple. Never liked their products, prices, customer service, sweat shop practices, nothing. Though, it is refreshing to see Apple taking their defiant stance against the Feds over the iphone hacking. Sadly... probably a losing one.

You mean Lenovo? They took a hammering. Sales dropped, they had to pay for the uninstalling software, every time they get brought up Superfish gets mentioned.

It's not actually anything new. All of the big manufacturers have done something similar at different points. This is why people absolutely need to do a clean install the second they get a PC.

Nintendo, the amount of shit that they can get away with is disgusting, selling a console without the charger, game content locked behind a toy, releasing a new version of the console with exclusive games for it (including snes emulation... SNES EMULATION REQUIRES THE NEW VERSION OF THE CONSOLE.... SNES).
Seriously, fuck that company, i bought a 3ds and it was worth it because of DS titles that were available plus some 3ds titles here and there, adding the overpriced games that they sell (Super Mario 3D land, release in 2011, 45€, seriously?) makes me never buy again something from them.

I built a pc for the first time half a year ago.
I'm still not sure if my CPU was a good choice. :P

I`m still on an i3 540 (OC`d) & it suits most of my needs.

Yeah, I don't actually understand the specs for cpu's though, that's my biggest issue.
I just bought an i7 and it turns out it performs pretty well.
Mostly too scared to overclock. :l
Too much effort and afraid I'll break something.

Sony, for reasons already stated.

Kitchenaid - for a complete lack of support for the refrigerator we bought (which I ended up repairing myself) and for the piece of shit 'high end' dishwasher we bought that has needed both the left and right adjustable upper rack supports replaced, 3 of the 4 lower rack dual wheel assemblies replaced, and now the water pump is going. Dishwasher is only 2 years old. And no response from various support requests. Fixed all issues myself (except the water pump. That's next).

LG - Bought a washer/dryer combo and the washer started leaking. Found out it was a simple 10 dollar hose that eventually wears out. No big deal and a relatively easy fix. The issue? You can't buy the hose in Canada. Oh, it's stocked in various warehouses, but no one is allowed to sell it to the average Joe. No, you have to call an LG technician to install it, which will cost a minimum $150. Meanwhile it's easily purchased in the US at various outlets. Luckily, a friend has an address in the US so I ordered it to his address, he picked it up, and brought it to me so I installed it myself. Total cost, including exchange: 16 bucks. Fuck LG if they want to soak their Canadian customers like that.

Samsung (TV's at least) - bought a 32" LCD years ago that subsequently stopped powering on 1 1/2 years after purchase. The specific model was even listed on Consumer Reports best LCD's at the time. Anyway, the issue turned out to be that of a known issue that called for the unit to be sent to Samsung for repair. However; there was a kicker - Samsung advised they would only fix it once for free, the next time I would have to pay the repair/shipping price even though this was a known issue.

In the end, they replaced the known crappy part and while doing so blew out my right side speaker. After receiving the TV back and learning of the speaker issue they refused to do anything as I could not prove the issue was not present prior to servicing.. What a load of crap! Needless to say I was cussing like Qbert did when the snake fell on his head @#@#!#!

I still have the one speaker TV today, great picture but the sound is quite bad. Never again!

Oh and also Apple for all of the reasons already mentioned.

Interesting. I'm trying to think what actual B&D tools I have. I'm not sure but I think my sander might be a B&D, and possibly my drill. I'll have to check though. Both are really old by now.

I'm still avoiding Intel because of their wanton mafioso criminal behaviour. I would add Dell to that list for assisting Intel in their crimes, but I don't buy pre-builts anyway so that would be an empty gesture. And no, not a word of that is an exaggeration as they've been legally hammered for it. Truth be told though, the way the market is right now, odds are my next computer will have to be an Intel. Fuck...

Apple have never appealed to me. It's not so much a boycott. It's more how their smug, arrogant, patronising outlook seems to permeate throughout their product range.

I also don't like Razer, but mostly because their hardware and drivers seem shoddy to me. I expect a lot better from products in that price bracket. A lot better. I get that from Steelseries so I haven't bothered to look back.

Philips: sometimes shoddy. Sometimes outstanding. A real lottery of a company. Wouldn't buy something of theirs without extensive research ensuring it's in the latter category.

ASRock: can confirm that they're shit. Even some research didn't save me from that one.

Zotac: nothing terrible. But really noticeably providing the cheapest option possible. Best to spend the extra.

As a 3DFX affectionardo back in the day: 3DFX killed 3DFX. The company was run by chumps who bankrupted it spectacularly.

It's been a while since my last AMD/ATI card, but from your post it sounds like their Linux drivers are every bit as good as their Windows drivers*.


*Unless AMD have broken the habit of a lifetime and produced some good Windows drivers in the past few years.
