Former professor here. I like this semi-joke that for all the teachers and professors out there new year starts on 1st of September instead of 1st of January. Last year I started living alone in my own flat exactly on 1st of September so I guess that makes that date double special for me. :)

Since one of my all-time favorites Cultures 1+2 is available pretty cheap right now I decided to buy it again (this must be 3rd or 4th time I'm giving GOG.com my money for it with a happy heart) and delight one of you who will become their foster father/mother and love them forever.

To be in you must do two things:
1. Write I'll teach you Vikings the true meaning of productivity! in your post.
2. Promise to yourself that if you win you'll play one of these games soon (you don't have to write it in your post but if you do so it's ok).

I am a newly graduated teacher and when I was doing my student-teacher internship, the kiddos busted me playing Breath of the Wild and went nuts about it. We ended up bonding over game strategies to hoard items and defeat Ganon.

You know, I was studying previously to become an English teacher, but later I decided that it just wasn't for me and I abandoned it. That's what happens when you struggle to decide on a career path...

Now, I'm not saying I have anything against the profession, I'm saying that I didn't really saw myself teaching classes. I'm not a very social person and I joined in the first place because I had a generally good level of English.

I thought I would be able to sort out the teaching part later down the line, but in the end it didn't worked out.

I actually used to be a teacher at a Gymnasium (high school equivalent), now I teach at a University. But I didn't get my professor title yet.


The students are taking an exam. The bell rings and the professor calls for all exams to be handed in. All stutents leave the room and pile their exams on the desk of the professor. But one student keeps writing and comes 5 minutes later to the front to hand in his exam.

Professor: "Sorry. You're too late. I won't accept your exam now."
Student (indignated): "What? Do you know who I am?!"
Professor (unimpressed): "No. And I don't care who you are."
Student: "Good!" (quickly sticks his paper in the exams pile).

Sounds exactly like math classes I "attended" during my university days. Whenever there was math, I was in a pub, "learning" to add to alcohol level in my blood. xD

Joking aside, in math it is so essential to have a good teacher who can animate you. I was so good in math in elementary school because the teacher was great (later he become the principal when I got my first job in that very school I was attending), but in high school and during college the professors were such tools that I just lost interest and even hated it to certain degree.

If anyone is wondering (since I didn't mention it before), I used to teach Informatics while education was my "business".
