Get Bio Menace FREE, and up to 75% off Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Quake, and DOOM.

Happy Holidays from the GOG.com team!
The holiday season is here. The world, in all its little shopping frenzies and chaotic reunions, seems to slow down just a little. It slows to taste the crisp winter air, to be childishly entranced by all the lights and colors.

As for us, we're going to celebrate with a little something special.
With a new free game in our catalog: <span class="bold">Bio Menace</span>, something of a mix between the smooth and joyous gameplay of Commander Keen, and the alien weirdness of the original Duke Nukem platformers. The spacey 2D shooter by 3D Realms is now part of our selection of free, truly worth playing, classics.

With a Happy Holiday Sale from GOG.com & Bethesda:
Have a holly, jolly discount. It's the best time of the year. We don't know if there will be snow, but have a cup of deal. It's <span class="bold">up to 75% off the entire Bethesda catalog</span> on GOG.com - including the three and only classic Fallout games, as well as some of the best shooters in history: the retro Wolfenstein 3D & Return to Castle duo, The Ultimate DOOM, DOOM II & Final DOOM alongside the Quake series (from the singleplayer gory of Quake + Quake II, through the timeless mutliplayer mayhem of Quake III). Finally, there's the chance to explore the history of The Elder Scrolls with classics like Morrowind, Battlespire, and Redguard.

As always, any purchase from the Bethesda catalog on GOG.com comes with a free copy of The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls Chapter II: Daggerfall!

Looking for last-minute gifts? There ya' go.
The sale will last until December 29, 4:59 AM GMT.

Have a happy holiday season!

Maxvorstadt: Well, I loved Oblivion and Skyrim, but did never really get into Morrowind. But I`m willing to give it another shot.
A thing that confuses me is that the skill levels are bound to your attributes (Strenght?, dexterity and so on) and character levels are bound to skill levels. You can only level up your character after levelling your main skills up ten times. But a skill can`t be higher than the corresponding attribute. It`s really very confusing.
Is there any chance that GOG will get Oblivion and Skyrim?

timppu: EDIT: Oh and I added the free Bio Menace, albeit I doubt I will play it. Most probably it doesn't even have sound card support.

EDIT2: Or does it, since it is a 1993 game? Those graphics made me think it is some EGA game from 1989 or such...
It does have Soundblaster/Adlib support, with a pretty neat soundtrack.
Thanks for the free game GOG/3D Realms/ Apogee. Looks like my wallet is going to take another hit before the start of the new year. Oh boy.

EDIT: Thanks to InfraSuperman for pointing out the mistake in my original post.

Well, chances do exist always. But they are only chances. You could pee from the peak of mount Everest and there is a chance that your pee hits Angela Merkel and Barrack Obama while they eat lunch together, but the chance is very minimal, see?
i just finished playing level one of bio menace, pretty good! lots of that classic charm and fun.

The free game is from 3D Realms, though; unless you're talking about Arena or Daggerfall.

Do you still remember the Soundblaster variables? :-)

djdarko: Great deals on some great games - I might have to bite on some Quake action.

Also, strange I just recieved a GOG email that Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project and Balls of Steel are on sale, even though they seem to be full price.
Curious...

I don't understand anything about configuring sound hardware.
I got the same newsletter with first 2 games being Duke Nukem MP and Balls of Steel. :o
Not sure if i can justify getting any of these... Although mostly i see Quake and Doom and Wolfenstein, while i already got Morrowind and the good games...

Crackpot.756: I'm sure someone would have complained had they said "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays". I like complaining about people who complain about such things so either way is fine with me.

So. Would someone who finds Skyrim irritating and Oblivion boring be able to enjoy Morrowind? Hard to tell whether Morrowind praise is based on nostalgia more than anything.

I believe skills are only limited to the attribute when you are training.

Also, the game uses the current values of your skill and attribute while training, so there are some shenanigans you can pull with fortify and/or drain effects. Note that you can train a skill above 100 this way, but it won't increase (but will count toward level advancement). Also, don't forget that magicka resistance affects drain effects, even those you cast on yourself.

Morrowind is full of exploits like these.
So has anyone tried Q3A yet? I want to know if there are multiplayer servers still available, since it doesn't have a singleplayer campaign.

Hm, do you know which is the max character level one can reach in Morrowind?
Thank you!

I've been waiting for this game for a while and glad to see it up here for free!!
