Get Bio Menace FREE, and up to 75% off Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Quake, and DOOM.

Happy Holidays from the GOG.com team!
The holiday season is here. The world, in all its little shopping frenzies and chaotic reunions, seems to slow down just a little. It slows to taste the crisp winter air, to be childishly entranced by all the lights and colors.

As for us, we're going to celebrate with a little something special.
With a new free game in our catalog: Bio Menace, something of a mix between the smooth and joyous gameplay of Commander Keen, and the alien weirdness of the original Duke Nukem platformers. The spacey 2D shooter by 3D Realms is now part of our selection of free, truly worth playing, classics.

With a Happy Holiday Sale from GOG.com & Bethesda:
Have a holly, jolly discount. It's the best time of the year. We don't know if there will be snow, but have a cup of deal. It's up to 75% off the entire Bethesda catalog on GOG.com - including the three and only classic Fallout games, as well as some of the best shooters in history: the retro Wolfenstein 3D & Return to Castle duo, The Ultimate DOOM, DOOM II & Final DOOM alongside the Quake series (from the singleplayer gory of Quake + Quake II, through the timeless mutliplayer mayhem of Quake III). Finally, there's the chance to explore the history of The Elder Scrolls with classics like Morrowind, Battlespire, and Redguard.

As always, any purchase from the Bethesda catalog on GOG.com comes with a free copy of The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls Chapter II: Daggerfall!

Looking for last-minute gifts? There ya' go.
The sale will last until December 29, 4:59 AM GMT.

Have a happy holiday season!

deonast: Well only games from the list that I don't own are the fallout games which I do own :)

Ah games hoping from one publisher to another, fun times.

Wish I could just mark them off as owned. I'm afraid one day I'll come home drunk see a sale and see games I don't own and buy them again.

No alternative but to drink in moderation I guess.
Drink as much as your health can tolerate, and make GOG refund you every time you drunkenly fall for their trick.

Even Google translate shrugged its shoulders and said "You're on your own, pal" when I fed these to it. (In fact, when I had it auto-detect only the sentence by Maxvorstadt that I quoted above, it told me it was Japanese.) =D

Des is koa Deitsch aba aa koa Englisch ned!! Nun I am sehr confused!!!
You were supposed to answer "That is not funny!" in German accent and then drop dead from laughing. ;-)

See The funniest joke in the world.

mike_cesara: No latest news for Bio Menace in Galaxy, I'm getting only spinning circle..
Just a cosmetic touch, cos the game itself works like a charm : )
avatar
JudasIscariot: Still, it might be a good idea to submit that to our Mantis :)
Wouldn't be easier to put there news about current promo?
Galaxy team has more important things to do, I believe ; )
Anyway, no more circle, now it says: There is no news for this game. Solved, thanks!

Maxvorstadt: So, which mods would you recommend? If I remember right, then Morrowind has the same weight problems like the other TES games, which means that looting is not easy in this game. Is there a mod to fix that?
There's tens, maybe hundreds of mods out there, but the simplest one to start with is Morrowind Rebirth 3.4, available on Moddb.com, which is an all in one sort of mod. Touches up the models and textures, balance tweaks, and other goodies. There's other retexturing and rebalancing mods, but there's so many to play with, that putting everything together can take hours. I would say to just start off with the simplest option at first.

If weight is an issue for you, there are mods like the "Strength Encumbrance Multiplier" (you set how much of an effect strength has on your maximum encumbrance, which can serve to make weight values inconsequential) and "No arrow/ammo weight" (for allowing infinite ammo, since they have 0.1 weight in Morrowind) available on Nexusmods.com. There is a setting in game to auto loot everything on a target, as soon as you right click, which can be toggled back to manual if need be.

On subsequent runs through the game, mods like Tamriel Rebuilt can offer a different perspective on the settings, and many such mods featuring added locales exist.

i still think selling Morrowind for 20€ is ridiculous

Bethesda ain't getting any money from me.
Not to poopoo the freebie too much but...

Where's Oblivion, Doom 3 and Fallout 3?

What I wrote is "The funniest joke in the world" also know as "The leathal joke" from an old Monty Python sketch. See the link in my last post. It is only supposed to sound like German but doesn't mean anything at all. ;-)

What Maxvorstadt wrote actually is German. :-) Though it does sound like Bavarian (or similar southern German) dialect. Since I live in Austria (a small German speaking country south of Germany) I understood him perfectly well. What he wrote translates to "That's not German but it isn't English either. I am very confused now!!!"

I'm super stoked to see that Bio Menace has been released GOG. Now I'm just hoping that Alien Carnage (aka Halloween Harry) will make its way here so that I can finally own all the old Apogee platformers.

What the...? Google translate doesn`t know bavarian? It`s one of the most famous languages in the world, every year millions of people come to bavaria to listen to this beautiful language. That some also drink some bavarian beer isn`t important here.

StickOfPlywood: ...
Thanks, quite elaborate.
Sounds like it wouldn't bore me like Oblivion did. Not sure what it was about that game, but after a few hours of wandering I just couldn't be bothered anymore. Meanwhile, Skyrim made me feel like nothing mattered; the only difference between playthroughs is what skills you use. How's Morrowind with choices and consequences?
