tinyE: That reminds me, I finally got around to reading "1984".
Man, things were a lot different then.
Maxvorstadt: When Orwell wrote it, it was a fictional story. Today it is an nearly exact description of the modern world.
just not quite as overt
pity eric* died so young ( 46 ) i wouldnt have minded hearing what he would have thought of the modern world
course in 2003 he would have been a 100
( george orwell is a pen name his real name was eric arthur blair)
snowkatt: i dont think orwel could have predicted all this
tng at least got the tablets
tinyE: That was a joke. :P
No one got it that last time I posted it. XD
I myself was eight in 1984, and while I was told to shut up a lot, it usually came from my actual brother.
well thats mostly because he got quite a lot of it right
which is what makes 1984 so unnerring
though huxley also got quite a bit right with brave new world
ie people are so inundated with mindless crap in the media they dont care about the important things or miss them alltogether
