The Raspberry Pi was released 8 years ago. Now does this mean it turns 2 or 8?

By the way, they reduced the price on the 2GB model of the Raspberry Pi 4 (2GB model).

Well, then...
8 years already? I wonder how puberty will process...

The 2Gig model is discounted on my country for several months now.
37.99€ for the 1 Gig model and 38.99€ for the 2 Gig one. Out of curiosity the 4 GB model costs 61.99€!

That sounds about right.

On Adafruit, the 1GB model is $30, the 2GB model $35, and the 4GB $55. On CanaKit, the 1GB model is still $35, meaning you might as well get the 2GB version. I have a feeling that the foundation wants the 2GB model to be the main one, and that the 4GB is more of a premium product to offset any loss from making and selling the cheaper ones (particularly the Zero).

In any case, this change makes the 2GB model a reasonable purchase. Before one would either choose to save money and get 1GB, or choose to spend some money on RAM and get the 4GB model; now the 2GB model replaces the 1GB model in this role ($5 for 1GB is not much, so easy to justify; $20 for 4GB is harder to justify, though still reasonable enough that many people will still choose this model, but it's not an automatic choice for use cases that don't need that much RAM.)
I retired my original model last week.
