Let's hope the more recent unresolved contest doesn't make it to two years.

So there are two of those now? Nice. To quote the Joker, "it would be funny if it weren't so pathetic". The worst part is GOG never even having the common decency to make any statement about either of those. It's unprofessional, and on a more human level just kind of douchey.

It isn't just unprofessional, but it also happens to be illegal in many countries to not respond or reveal to the results of a contest. Imagine running a lottery and then 3 months later quietly withdrawing it.

At this point, I'm pretty sure that GOG (the company as a whole, not all the individual personnel) has ADHD.

No clear focus, an absurd lack of transparency from the staff, starting projects and leaving them half baked, chasing butterflies, and the core infrastructure has gone years without a good tidy.

Did GOG ever award the prize for the Failbetter Games story contest from several years ago? There was a big controversy at the time that they didn't.

I'm not sure if they ever did though, but last I heard, they never did. Can anyone confirm that for sure?

What Darvond said, more or less. They like to start new projects/initiatives, but their rate of follow-through is terrible, and has been at least since I signed up here. Though I think at least part of the reason for this (aside from the easy explanations of disorganization and perhaps mid- to high-level incompetence within the company) is due to a cynical opinion by some of those in positions of authority that "It's just cheap PR! So what if we quietly kill off much-vaunted initiatives, or fail to actually satisfactorily conclude a contest we organized? Most of the public will forget about it! It's fine."

In the case of one GA they they did that I won (there were a few), it took a cross-platform crew of us about six months to get any prizes (by constantly nagging), then we were told they were sent (GOG had sent them to the first people to claim to be the winners online), then we were sent completely different "prizes" (in my case a mug that had nothing to do with the competition at all).
This was back when GOG had people that knew what they were doing in that dept (borrowed from CDPR).

Edit: I've no doubt this is why they now use Gleam - because of course its infallible and the staff wont simply put that shit on ebay...

Next week (October 20th) we will be celebrating the 9th anniversary of GOG's broken promise to give prizes for their contest (Prison Architect)

The Frostpunk contest is coming up on 3 years in a few months.

GOG please let us know what you think about this.

OK, I (think I) understand your bitterness for the unresolved contests, I just don't understand your persistence in pointing it out. Maybe some things went not as GOG planned, so what? Have you got any idea of how many things can go wrong, in everyday life, from just one moment to the next? Let it go, it's no big deal really.

Then the issue is lack of communication, something gOg has had a lot of problems with before. Lack of communication shows lack of care.

Something gone wrong, thats fine, shit happens, but then also say "sorry guys, some shit happened"

Not to pander to staff. It is plausible that we are not aware of what they did or have not done, because they are not beholden to us.

Seriously? They created an event, announced they'll do something, then just put a lid on it as if it never happened and you want it treated as if it's perfectly fine? I'm quite sure it's even illegal, and most definitely wrong.
Can't even say I remember what the contest was about, personally, but the issue itself is obvious and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.
Now I assume that the regulations listed something about force majeure or "acts of God" that may lead to cancellations or changes, but if so there must be a clear announcement about it, spelling out exactly what happened and how it falls under those clauses and led to the cancellation.
