oh, I agree. I actually like to watch bad movies (especially with friends). Just last night I was trying to find Surf Nazis because tinyE mentioned it in another thread and I hadn't watched it yet.

For a real fun time, watch episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000 with friends.

It would have been but for one small problem, TOO MANY FLASHBACKS! XD I had no idea what the hell was happening when! :P Got knows I adore the story, director, and actors. It had it all but for that one mess.

Movies like that are best enjoyed in the company of alcoholic beverages. Then you don't worry about little things like "flashbacks". heh

Definitely not Carpenter's best work, but still a damn sight better than most of the trash Hollywood churns out these days.

Well, my annual halloween horror movie marathon was not quite as succesfull so far as I'd like it to be, but it did turn up one great film I haven't seen until now- Fright Night (the original from 1985), which I thought would just be a silly comedy about a teen who finds out his neighbour is a vampire turned out to be actually quite creepy, surprisngly well directed, quite impressive visually and far more a proper horror than a comedy. Actually it's probably the best modern day vampire movie I know, next to Kolchak: The Night Stalker. Most comedy comes from an old actor who played a vampire hunter in many old hammer-style horrors and is called upon by the teen to help, but even with him things get quite serious eventually, and his first actuall vampire kill is no laughing matter. And the sequence with the vampire seducing/hypnotizing the main characters girlfriend on the night club's dance floor is simply fantastic.

I usually love anything with Zombies... however, that being said, I usually like to pick the better of the offerings out there (and there are a lot of stinkers out there trying to get in on the bandwagon).

While in no particular order, I think that the original Romero "Dawn of the Dead" has to be one of my favorites.

Try "The Serpent and The Rainbow" (directed by Wes Craven) for a different kind of zombie movie.

The film's original title is Braindead. The USA is the only place in the world where they changed the title to Dead Alive.

I do believe that was it... they changed the USA title because it conflicted with another one at the time. Either way, I did get an opportunity to see it --along with Jackson's other earlier works like "Bad Taste" and "Meet the Feebles".

Anyhow, good movie, good weird gore and gross-out scenes. I knew into the first 10 minutes of movie (the guy with the machete), when it made me laugh out loud, it was one to keep watching....

Jackson's early movies are cult classics.

Dead Snow 1-2? :)

Wow, I forgot about Dead Snow! ..and didn't know there was a sequel. On that note, I also forgot about Rammbock, Berlin Undead.

Sequel is little more comedy and a little bit less horror but I enjoyed it :)
