I'll ask: what controller does it use? Keyboard only?

There are several versions of the game, however the PC version can use either only the mouse or the mouse and keyboard for faster control.

Should I post another hint or are people not very active due to holidays, so I should wait until people with questions arrive?

(of course, unless people got a bit burned out playing the game, as it's been similarly inactive for the past page or three)

Here's another Christmas-y hint:

The game is happening in a house near a lake and I'm part of a team who's mission is to protect five girls who were invited to spend their weekend there by the house owners' daughter, the girls are just about to arrive any minute now. One of them is our secret agent who is tasked with finding out what happened to the previous girls who had visited the house and never came back.

Question: How old is it? (the game not the girl)

I've never played this game but...Night Trap?

I thought it would be very obvious after mentioning all the player does in the game is pushing buttons and that there are those ninjas shambling around the house, those 'monsters' are so iconic. Fever Discordia was very close with his first guess in terms of genre and style. I was waiting to say that the house is full of traps that you can activate as my 'last' hint today, as I thought after that everyone who's ever heard of the game would get it.

If you haven't played it yet, I can heartily recommend it, it holds up very well for our time both in terms of how it looks like (it's an FMV game with real footage which is very enjoyable) and playability, don't use the save feature though if you're going to go with the PC version.

If anyone would like tips on how to get Dosbox version running with your CDs (or the images, it's easier), let me know! :)

Skeletons. Of iron, fire and other stuff. Wizards. Warriors. Seemingly endless waves of them. I'm already a few levels above their's, but they come in crowds.
I could change to the other form, the more powerful - but then they disappear from my view and I can't rain fire on them like I sure would like. Sword, shield. And "Creature! Heel!".
