Elaborigen: Is it in a fantasy setting?

Fever_Discordia: no, real world

To tell you the truth I'd forgotten my clue was still the live one - wondered why there wasn't much activity in the tread, LOL!

OK there's another level with a similar situation, I think this one might be in the first campaign proper

Again, if you just build up like normal, out of nowhere the enemy comes and wipes you out. But this time you're on separate islands and he lands a transport full of decent troops and a... er... building destroying unit
This time the 'cheaty' method is to pump all your resources into building 3 attack boats to destroy the transport before it lands, destroying the units on board in the process!
Does the game have sequels? If yes, how many or...is it Civ?

It's not Civ and not counting expansions, the latest one is number 3

which historical period is it?

ZFR: which historical period is it?
Different campaigns explore slightly different periods from different parts of the world but generally i'd say 'classical'

I thought so, but this definitely doesn't happen in 1 and 2 which I played.

Yep its AoE 1 - ZFR is obviously too good at them to have to look up the cheaty methods!
Your go!

Well, I played it at easiest difficulty, and don't recall having such problems. That was years ago. Maybe I should have a go at higher difficulty some time...

Hah, I remember doing that in some campaigns I think, or just the normal skirmish - when you spotted the ship, you immediatelly went to sink it! :) It saved a lot of soldiers, especially if you had a good navy.

Alright, here's my game: All I do is press buttons. However it's not easy, it's a matter of concentration, precise - or rather accurate timing and good management of following several things at once.

Fever_Discordia: Signal Ops?
For some reason my edit wasn't posted with the next hint, sorry! Here it goes (and nope, it's not Signal Ops).

The place is about to be overrun by ninjas in black who are shambling around the place like mad Igors, and I'm the only one (or practically the only one) who can stop them! If I don't, who knows wha they'll do to those five I was suppoed to watch over and make sure they're safe. However sometimes it's a bit hard with all those interesting distractions and conversations going on, some of which do have important information, so it would be handy to listen in on some of those.
