The Slaughtering Grounds?

ZFR: The Slaughtering Grounds?
Excellent! Your turn :)
To be honest, I've never heard of this game before, just did ak search on games with zombies with DMCA controversies.

Anyway, here goes:

HELP. Can anyone tell me how to complete the quest where you have to get the artifact back to the natives. The quicketst way to get there is by water. Problem is, swimming not only makes me an exposed sitting duck to the enemies and damages my equipment, the waters are also full of monsters that can quickly kill you. Going by land takes way too long. And if I don't bring the artifact back, the natives won't be very willing to cooperate with me.

At first, I thought you were talking about From Dust, there were some similar references (natives, like tribe natives; artifact - totem; travelling by water - when the player has to put some sand or lava here and there to make a path), but now I'm not sure... :D
Well, travelling by water is exactly that: swimming. Other info might be a big... misleading.

So go ahead and start asking!
What kind of an artifact is it?

That one was pretty entertaining. Here is a nice summary :)

It's a headstone. Of one of their former leaders or elders or another important figure, can't remember exactly.

What's the genre of the game? Now I'm thinking it could be RTS more than an RPG.

It is a strategy, but a turned based one.

Is it Alpha Centauri?

Yep, in that case I probably haven't played it - I haven't played many turn-based strategies so far, although I did consider playing some. I did enjoy a TB strategy RPG though (FF Tactics on the GBA, I hoped I would get eventually another TB strategy RPG which would have even more strategy elements like terrain types and ground height etc. but I'm not sure if I'd enjoy it now, unless it was something radically different - eg. another setting and what you play as, because this specific genre tends to be a lot the same and thus the combat gets boring (while for some reason action or RPGs don't bore me)).

I dare say this is one that you would enjoy.

Come on, I can give you hints, but I'd rather the hints were answers to questions...

Well, since there's a large chance I haven't heard of it I wanted to leave the guessing up to others - but since no one else has joined in on this round yet and it can speed up the game, here's another one - what is the setting of the game?
