Not really. Turn based strategy.
Probably, not as cool as it sounds. It's kind of the tutorial.

Indeed it is Eador, any of the two since they're basically the same game. :)

There's Eador: Genesis and Eador: Masters of the Broken World. Both are the same game almost exactly, the second one with 3d graphics.
They have quite a lengthy campaign (I've never finished it) in which there is some diplomacy involved with different masters and it has a couple of different endings. But most of it is not about the story.
I think of it as Heroes of Might and Magic on steroids and haven't been able to go back to those games since I tried it. They also have a steeper learning curve.

That sounds really cool, I might tried that. So the one with becoming a Master via your mentor is in the first one? Since no one has taken my turn over for me, have a go at this:
Me and my friends are elite commandos, we are an elite team of spies and we fulfil missions!

ZFR: What's the setting? Present day, sci-fi, world war 2? Me and my friends are elite commandos, we are an elite team of spies and we fulfil missions!
Edit: Actually, now that I've looked at wiki I realized it only came out for the consoles, not PC, but since it's so famous I think that's okay. Any questions about the cast or setting? ;)

Is it turn based?
OT: Both Eadors are the same game, Masters of the Broken World is a "remaster" of Genesis, so that part is the same in both.

It's actually an action adventure game, with a little bit of platforming. OT: Both Eadors are the same game, Masters of the Broken World is a "remaster" of Genesis, so that part is the same in both.
Aha, I thought it's two different games! Wow, isn't that a cash grab then? Or did they really rework it a lot?

I have no clue and also no intelligent question to ask about the current game, so I'll just push this thread to attention again and hope that perhaps the next game will be something I know :D
Side question: How many of the games being described here have you played roughly? I am interested to know since it seems that for myself most of the time I had never played the described games and therefore had no clue. For me I only played two of the games here and one of that was Tetris :D
(of course not taking into account the two games I described myself when I ninjad the chance to take a turn)
