Asking for the year of release will probably give it away so can you give it within 5 years? e.g 1990-1995

edit: Just had a thought, is it Maniac Mansion?

Ghorpm: One of the Goosebumps games? Escape from HorrorLand perhaps...
Yep, you're right! It's actually a FMV adventure game and guess who plays Dracula? Jeff Goldblum!

It's actually a very good and funny game, especially that bit above I've linked, so if you have a chance, give the game a spin. It might be a bit harder with the licensing issues to get it over to GOG though.

Here's a trailer included in a 'Making of - Behind the Scenes' video: Goosebumps: Escape from HorrorLand

I've never finished it although I should still have it. Somewhere... or somewhere else...

Anyway, here is the new one:

After this long (and profitable!) voyage I should visit a bath house first. Look who we have here... my competitor is taking a bath too! Maybe I should pay him a little so that during the upcoming elections... nah, no point in doing that. Waste of money. I can't boost my popularity quickly enough to have any hope to win. Better luck next time. After a bath let's go to a church and pray a little so that they may think I'm respectable. Well, I should get married and have some children too. People usually think that somebody with a family is more trustworthy. So let me stockpile some food and drinks, I'll need it for a wedding fest. The better the party the bigger dowry I'll get! I just need to find and hire a captain so that I can send an expedition looking for new lands. Too bad that every time I visit a tavern only pirates are sitting there. I don't want anybody sees me talking with them. I can have serious problems because of that.
Sounds a lot like Patrician - I just started playing Patrician III, and I'm still on the confusing end of the learning curve.

I even had Patrician III in mind :D I love this game but it can be a bit confusing at the beginning. One tip: don't build ANY facilities to produce your own goods early in the game. Nor in the middle. Trust me - you can afford to run your own factories only when you are really rich. Some of my early runs were spoiled because I made an assumption that producing goods is much better then getting them via trade. Well, technically it's true but you need some reserves to pull that off efficiently.
I'm still figuring out how things fit together on a very basic level. Like, what am I supposed to do with these swords I bought. I didn't really want swords, but someone offered them to me and I figured they might be useful, and now suddenly I have swords. Factories are FAR in my future!

On my first experimental run, I got hit by a pirate about five seconds out of Luebeck port. Restart.

OK, my turn? Let's do a quick easy one:

DAMN YOU, GANDHI! /shakes fist

Civ 5? ;)

Actually, the Gandhi of Civ III is probably the one that always irks me most - either that or Civ IV - but yes, that's the one. As soon as he appears at the diplomacy table, I know there's trouble ahead.

All yours!

Well, swords are even farther in your future than factories ;) Swords are used by town watch units but you'll have to become a lord major of a town to train new town watch units and as you can imagine it's not that easy to be elected ;) Cutlasses can be useful a bit earlier - they can be equipped by your sailors and help during hand-to-hand fights. But that's still nothing you should worry early in the game.

I know the answer but I'll let somebody else continue the game. EDIT: it's been answered already while I was typing my response ;)

Yeah, I read a funny article why he acts the way he does, it's strange that they didn't fix it.

Is there someone who hasn't gotten a turn yet who'd like to play? If not, then I'll post one soon.

If you don't mind I'd like to post one :-)

*wack* ok... this gate hits really hard, somehow it needs to stay open. Perhaps some magic buzz? *wack* there needs to be something somewhere to help us through...

Does this scene somehow involves... a frog?

Nope, I don't think so at least there is no frog anywhere^^
(I am really stuck at that spot right now, but since there is no water or swamp or frog anywhere I don't think one will appear) :D
