Ghorpm: Wild guess: What Remains of Edith Finch

joppo: Sorry but never touched that game
Me neither ;)

joppo: I intended to post a scene following the one I described earlier, but a game breaking bug kept me from going much further yesterday. So I'm posting a scene from earlier instead. This is not as weird as it might look, because the game itself doesn't keep the story chronologically linear anyway.

PS: there will be a new hint in 24 hours if needed.
Edit: I'm sorry about spoilers below, but when you play the game you'll see some of them coming from a mile away.

* * * *

Our plan is going perfectly. For months my boyfriend has been getting closer to the man who is the mastermind behind the theft. Our goal is a pair of valuables; the first one is in possession of this man (he stole it before the game started) but we'll steal it from him before the ship docks. We'll do it with such precision that he won't suspect a thing until it is too late for him and he's in jail.

This man is in an unassuming disguise too, masquerading as a lowly worker. My part now is to find a way into his employer's cabin where the valuable certainly is while playing The Ditzy blonde for anyone that could suspect me.

muddysneakers: Sounds like one of the Monkey Island games but I'm not sure which one.
avatar
joppo: Not at all. This game is far from being based on humor the way Monkey Island is.
Now it reminds me of The Raven but that starts on a train. The ship isn't until later.
Now I'm getting Raymond Chandler vibes.
You mentioned how the game jumps around chronologically...is it a Visual Novel style game? A Text Adventure game?

It does indeed, because it is The Raven. I think it is okay to pick a scene from mid or late game, isn't it?

It would be too easy if I simply described a detective mystery on a train ( "is it The Raven or Orient Express?" Duh! ) so I decided to up the challenge a bit by choosing a later scene with a different player character in a different location.

Your turn now
I'm on a quest with my brother and some friends to defeat the big bad. A lot of my friends are named after food like lobster, salad, and eclair. Also my spiritual adviser is a creepy old man.
One of my companions is named Bear Airport. He originally tried to kill me until I converted him to my cause. He turned out to be one of my strongest companions despite being a generic NPC.
Guessing Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery?

morrowslant: Guessing Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery?
Nope. Think older and more FF.
I've got a crush on one of my companions. He's a little mysterious but he may be hiding something. I feel like we know each other from somewhere.
If that's not too much of a giveaway, can you describe yourself?

Sanjuro: If that's not too much of a giveaway, can you describe yourself?
It probably is but the game is apparently more obscure than I thought.

I'm a bit of an obnoxious, teenage demon hunter.

Also, it may have been missed but there's a clue on the previous page.
Grandia 2?

Lone_Scout: Grandia 2?
You guys are generally on the right track. This game is a bit of a spin off of a popular series. I make a couple of cameos in that series as either a hidden boss or a playable character.

The team also briefly flies on Lobster's airship until we crash lands on a mysterious island.

Console only. I didn't see any PC ports.
