I was thinking of one of the Archon games, but the only one which is pc exclusive is is Archon: Classic, which is not the one if we go by hint at post #2893.

The other Archon games are Archon: Light and Dark (multiplatform) and Archon II: Adept (also multiplatform) or Archon: Conquest (which is iOS).

It could possibly be Archon Ultra, which is MSDOS, and not sold anywhere I am aware, but it is a long shot.
