ZFR: Actual friends (two of them). One of them is quite a close one...
ZFR: I'd go with yes, though it's a judgment call to be honest. It's definitely dystopian and it takes place after an event that could be called apocalyptic, though not a nuclear holocaust, which is what I usually associate "post-apocalyptic" with.
