pimpmonkey2382.313: Bop the bishop.

ZFR: No.

Green_Hilltop: More hints? :)
avatar
ZFR: I'd prefer if they were answers to questions, and other than direct guesses there weren't really any.

Here is a free one: the protagonist in known outside the game.

And a technical one: not on GOG.
The re-make of this old Bat-Man game?

ZFR: I could sure eat more apples...
I think this is the most important clue, right?

Green_Hilltop: Is the game a fantasy or an RPG?
It doesn't really have any RPG elements. Very simple dialogue and basic inventory (you either carry an item or you don') is all it has that makes it similar to RPG.

It is a fantasy world (trolls, witches, magic), with a tiny bit of parody type references to modern world (e.g. TV repair or London Bridge)

Additional hints:
_One of the bosses is a giant snake (each episode ends with a boss)
_Hero has 2 bars: one is HP, the other is mana/energy/power (forgot the exact name)
_The hero uses one weapon only, that he can use an infinite amount of times (i.e. doesn't run out of ammo or anything). He can also use inventory items which come with different powers, both offensive and defensive, but these cost mana/energy/power.
_If you die, you simply respawn at the beginning of an area. Infinite amount of lives (there is actually an in-game reason on why this is so)
_The game is full of tongue-in-cheek or parody humour.

Ask questions! It's not very famous, but it's also not an obscure game, I'm sure quite a few people on these boards played it.

Yes! You eat apples in the game to regain HP.

Was it a 'shareware- first episode for free, mail order for the rest' dealee?
This sounds really familiar, but I can't remember the name. I might have to dig out my shareware collection CDs for this.

LOL sorry, on the one hand that was 5 DAYS ago, on the other we're still on the same page - I'll beat myself up but not TOO hard, I think!
The apple thing does sound familiar, but...yeah, unless there are more hints probably -

HANG ON IS IT JILL OF THE JUNGLE?

Edit: Nope, no apples being eaten there. Just hanging around. I got so much excited remember the game. :) But still I do feel like I have played something where you eat apples. But a spider house and lightning? Is it a platformer?

Can you describe the protagonist?

Green_Hilltop: HANG ON IS IT JILL OF THE JUNGLE?
No...

avatar
Green_Hilltop: Is it a platformer?
No. It's top down view. The view is something like the original Legend of Zelda, but the graphics are newer.

Green_Hilltop: Can you describe the protagonist?
In the game he's a muscular fellow with reddish brown hair and a thick beard, wearing a helmet and armor.
(The same character in other media might be portrayed differently)

To make it easier I'll give his profession: deity.

That would be Thor, I assume. Thunderer (thus the lightning to the spider house), eater of apples (of Idun), Norse deity.

Now the hard part: trying to find a puzzle game I've never played (I'm sure of it) knowing who the protagonist is.

I just googled few keywords and found the game on the first try. Since you cleverly guessed the character, I'll leave it up to you to make the correct guess and find the answer and have the next turn! :)

Just guess the game already or I'll make something that noone here has ever played (like, say, Akalabeth) as my question (no, seriously, I'm running low on games to post here). :-)
