I've almost reached my house with many hard earned valuables but then I've heard this dreadful sound... BOOM! I'm dead and half of my house is destroyed. Great, just great! I hate you so much!

That depends. It my mean game over and you have to restart from the very beginning. But it's also possible that you may continue as if (almost) nothing happened.

Apparently, if I followed the clues and learned to understand the language of the people from Soptus Ecliptus I would have learned the safe route thought the desert

Is it an RPG? Sounds like some kind of a gamebook adventure but with those only one save would've been enoguh. ;)
