Ghorpm: Nobody? Seriously? The game is not here yet but it has +800 votes so I thought some folks would be able to recognize it, especially because I described the very beginning of the game.
Pff, now people can look through the voting lists :P

Depending on how hard this turns out to be it might be an idea to keep this to games on GOG (or have been on GOG, in the past, at least)

Pre 2000 classic

Depending on how hard this turns out to be it might be an idea to keep this to games on GOG (or have been on GOG, in the past, at least)

It was just a suggestion if it was too hard and I think if the game is reasonable known it shouldn't be a problem. Quite a lot of recent games were not on GOG - Mysteries of the Sith, Golden Sun (not even a PC game), Drakan, Prince of Persia 3D - and it wasn't too difficult to guess them so I think mine shouldn't be a big problem neither. It's not something obscure, it was well known back then and I've seen several threads here begging for this game

OK, so I'm a guardian and blah, blah, blah, boring my job sucks. I'm ordered to guard an entrance to a chamber where an important meeting is being held and politics. But it didn't turned to be boring after all... assassins! I jumped into action killed a bad guy but then I got poisoned and paralyzed. I'm in a hospital now. It turns out that the poison is very nasty. It will mutate me, I'll get stronger because of it but eventually I may lose control over myself, so I should better find a cure.

Vampire=mutant and vampiric curse could be poison :D

Oh, come on ;) I said: guarding a chamber where important meeting is held and assassination occurs there. Your description states that the protagonist is a nobleman and was ambushed during a journey. Doesn't fit at all! :D Try harder!

Got it: Dark Earth

Earth is crap:

Dark Earth takes place several centuries in the future, when a meteor collision with Earth (referred to as the "Great Cataclysm") has thrown up great clouds of ash and dust, blocking out the light of the sun.
Guarding that door:

He then goes to see the head of the Guardians of Fire, Provost Dhorkan, who orders him to guard the council chamber door at the Temple of Solaar, while the High Sunseer Lory is holding a meeting.
Mutation:

Arkhan awakens some time later, and is horrified to discover that he has begun to turn into a creature of darkness.
btw. reading all those stories partially on Wikipedia. It is amazing how often there is hero+poison+cure involved. ^^
